Decanted, modest sediment, rich dark purple red, jammy berry flavors after about an hour of breathing (started out very tight when first decanted) delightful,

Powerful stuff! Mouth coating purple with intense notes of black currants, sage, earth, wet rock, and a floral character (ylang-ylang??). Good acidity but tannins could be a little beefier. Definitely one for a heavy rich meal.

My tasting of this wine is a little different than the other note. Very smooth, as are other wines from Austin Hope. The winery states the wine has an earthy aroma, going to blueberry and chocolate in the taste. I agree, that's a pretty good description. This is a full bodied wine and not as fruit forward as many others from the region. I spent $58 to get this from the winery... for that price, you can get some pretty decent wine. Overall, I'd say this holds up on price value.

First impressions. Young wine. Not as fabulous as the 2016. Powdered iced tea on the nose initially. Cranberry. Violets. Very fruit forward and sweet. Finish is a bit short. Fig newtons. Try again in a year.
