Note: I use the recommended scale, so 85 represents a very good wine.
A bit from memory, but not quite as enjoyable as the bottle I had in 2015. As before, sweet, but not at all cloying. I have some 2005, and I will be drinking them straight away.

Dinner w/ Doug & Sena & Alex & David...Sadly, Rob Was There Too (Doug & Sena's): Grapes and raisins with hints of chocolate. Unsurprisingly, paired very well with chocolate cake. Not showing any heat. Tastes fairly primary, but I don't think it will develop much, if at all. Still, good for what it is, drink now - 2022.

Drank from .375. Deep Bordeaux red/brick red. Medium sweet with balancing acidity. Drying tannins after 30 minutes that add to complexity. Wonderful after dinner wine. Added 1/18/16- this half kept in fridge almost 3 months and still drinkable, especially with chocolate.

Drank over 2 days. Excellent bottle. Sweet but not cloying (as some have mentioned). Let's keep Banyuls "under the radar". Tell your friends it is terrible. :-)

Sweet, but not at all cloying. Slightly drying tannins emerge after 30 minutes for added complexity. Great with chocolate. Drink now and over next few years. Update after two weeks in fridge, has improved. Now integrated and balanced on palate with mocha, sweet cherry and dark plums.

There was a slight bit of seepage on the top of the cork, and when I first opened, this was giving up nothing and I thought it was gone. But I waited. And waited. And after several tastes and quite a few days, this finally blossomed into a classic Banyuls, with rich cherry chocolate sweet fruit, silky mouthfeel. A great treat to savor while Hurricane Sandy was roaring through late at night.

From .375. Popped and poured, but better after 60 mins.in bottle. A definite step up in complexity and finesse from regular rimage bottling. Deep and elegant, with plum, dark fruits and smooth tannins. Very good plus. No noticeable decline finishing last of bottle after 3 days in fridge.

Didn't take any notes, and this is written 5 days later. A very nice Banyuls, though not one to hold for long. Nicely balanced sweetness, not at all cloying. Some prunes and spice bread, if I recall correctly.

really viscous -- coats the tongue. significant tannin. chocolate, cherries, and other red fruit. medium (-) finish was a little disappointing. the alcohol was well integrated on this

Translucent but dark purple center; slightly pinkish at the rim. Nose is plums and stewed cherries. Concentrated grape preserves, chocolate, and a little black licorice on the palate; some noticeable alcohol (17.5%) on the finish, but also mocha and concentrated black fruits.
This was my first Bayuls, so I'm not sure if this is typical, but I enjoyed it. Lack the body and complexity of a vintage port; more like a LBV in body, but not tannic. A very good deal at this price point.

Not a typical Banyuls. Not particularly sweet, it was slightly tannic and closed.. Maybe it needed more or less time, but it seemed a little out of balance.

Somehow we'd been thinking this would be a white given it was a dessert wine. Didn't have a lot to compare it to as not used to dessert wine reds; as another review said it tasted similar to a light/subtle port. I think I would have preferred the typical Sauternes-type that we were expecting. However at $13.99 for 375ml it seemed good value and a fun alternative to round off dessert for the 5 of us

involving nose of spiced candied cherries, elegant plummy (but not overrripe) fruit and rich tannins on the palate, also a note of iron--resembles a port with some bottle age (though it is young). huge and lasting finish.

Nothing profound, but quite enjoyable - smooth and velvety, with a nice warming quality. Similar (in a good way) to some better late-harvest Zins I've had.

Like a mouthful of baked black cherries. Cannot imagine a better pairing with chocolate. Not overly prunish or raiseny at all. Like a subtle port. Very nice, indeed.

Grenache based, closed, peppery, nice tannins, not cloyingly sweet, rose petals.

Nice coco aroma and taste, concentrated berry, not too heavy for a dessert wine

This is the first Banyuls I've tried. Not as big as a typical port would be. One could imagine it was fortified using plum brandy!
