Truly one of the best entry-level Côtes du Rhône reds from a family who makes spectacular wines at all price levels. This seems primarily Grenache and if you keep an open mind, this is a reasonably-priced alternative to Burgundy (Pinot Noir) that pairs well with lots of food including poultry. Elegant, smooth with laid back red cherry notes. Paired perfectly with Hawaiian pineapple pork chops with stir fried rice.

Hmm… A little boring, straight forward and too simple. The color is deep ruby red. On the nose I pick up green stems, red berries and flowers. The taste is a little weak and too thin on the palate and with a rather short finish…

From MG. Fine CdR for easy drinking (e.g. BBQ). Vinsobres for Syrah (20%), Orange (Prébois) for Grenache (60%) and Saint-Maurice for Mourvèdre (20%). Others say so: Grenache: 40%; Mourvèdre: 40%; Syrah: 20%.

Split wood underbrush currant blackberry pie and a palate of dry currant, plum and blackberry. Finishes very dry and medicinal full of drying tannin but then turns into baked blackberry pie with ice cream. Fun wine easy drinker.

Medium ruby colour. Medium and developing nose with strawberry, ripe red plum, vanilla and charred wood. Medium taste of strawberry, ripe red plum, vanilla, charred wood and dried herbs. Medium long and dry finish. Medium acidity. Light tannins. Medium body. A very good Côtes du Rhône that is fresher than the 2018 vintage. Drink now or over the next couple of years. Goes well with duck or pork.

A lighter wine with a clean finish and dark berry aromas and flavours. A subtle spiciness? Medium acidity and tannin. Overall an easy drinking well balanced wine.

Medium purple color. Aromas of baking spices, clove, dark fruits. Medium acid. Medium tannins. Medium minus body but leaves some legs on the glass. Flavors of blackberries with hints of something savoy - could be clove or oregano. The finish is on short side of medium.

Dark fruit, black cherry, and wild herb notes show a creamy consistency while maintaining tart freshness. Toast and spices segue into a peppery finish. Tasty.

Enjoyable CdR- pretty basic but with some decent fruit and concentration, at least for $10 ish. I think $5 more with the category gets you a lot, and is almost always worth it. A bit of unpleasant reduction on nose here at first, but thankfully blew off. Nice dark plum, raspberry preserves, a bit of savory/smoky nuance, pepper, mostly about the ripe warm fruit though. Decent acidity, needs a little more energy and structure though, and just more presence overall to feel complete.

Nose mostly juicy dark fruit, with solid, savoury backbone Palate slightly savoury, but with fruit in the centre, and med-soft, fine drying tannins. medium finish Colour dark, opaque plum/blood Overall Slightly perfumed but earthy, medium bodied red with great value for just over $20 AUD

Good colour and a full nose of fruit and flowers. It is perfectly ripe and has fleshy red and black fruit flavours overlaying a reasonable structural base. Delicious now and sealed under screwcap it should age effortlessly over the mid-term.

I found this wine for $8 at Trader Joe's, and it is a good choice at $8. I had a bottle of La Vieille Ferme Rouge (Famille Perrin's ultra-budget offering) recently that I liked better than this - and I paid the same amount for that bottle. I have paid $12 for a bottle of this in the past, and at $12, there are better options for my palate (Kermit Lynch Selections Cotes du Rhone and Jadot Beaujolais Villages both come to mind). I have yet to try Perrin's CdR Villages or CdR Nature, and I am actively looking for those. This is not a bad wine, just not my favorite.

Medium body, bright purple color. Elegant fruit mix aroma. Cherry and blackberry palate following by mineral finish. Good acidity and young tannins. Food friendly, well pairing to Mediterranean salad and light cheeses. Serve 16ºC - 20ºC. Open two hours ahead. Drink now and next couple years.

Pleasant rustic Rhone house wine. Strawberry, ripe red pepper. Much better with about an hour in decanter. Made to be drunk young. Straightforward, nice simple structure to live for the short term. At $11.99, a solid value for those like me who like classic French styled wines.
I had half of the bottle over one night.

5th June 2020: Extremely fragrant scent of grapes, colour is intense like blood red, Long legs which indicates high alcohol content. This was evident in the first mouthful, strong alcoholic finish...it does open up a little after sometime..very dense wine, very unexpected as previous vintages were very light and balanced easy to drink...
Looking forward to the next bottles...
