Instant whiff of Sauvignon Blanc. Mineral, apple, hint of gooseberry. Some pineapple as it opens up. Attack is very soft. Almost a buttery texture after an hour open. Sauvignon expression lacking on the palate. Maybe one to drink a little younger. Complemented soft cheese well. Nice but QPR could be better.

This wine appears to have a good amount of variation. This particular bottle is pleasant but a little hollow. Citrus from lemon to orange with honeysuckle notes. Improves some with air, but tough to peg as a Sancerre. Here’s to hoping my other bottle varies towards the high scores below.

Last bottle, best battle. Fabulous mouthfeel, lovely integration of fruit, oak and bottle age. Shows beautifully refined sauvignon expression, with a rare depth of expression. Much more complete and harmonies wine than the 2020 Arnot Roberts Old Vine Farmer Family Vineyard White, which is simply too young at the moment.

Yeah, glancing over the tasting notes here I see more things that I associate with chenin than sauvignon blanc. That was my experience. A thick but balanced and pleasant enough white, not much saying either Sancerre or SB to me.

Pale lemon. Medium on the nose with aromas of blossom lemon green apple peach grass and flint. Youthful. Dry, high acidity, high alcohol, full bodied. It has medium intensity on the palate, with flavors of lemon, minerals, lime, grass. The finish is medium plus. Very good quality wine. Fresh and crisp. More elegant compared to a NZ sauv blanc. Drink now, no further aging needed.

Clean and peachy - what you'd expect on the first half. Never been very good at picking up what a grassy note is, but maybe here it is? Not sure. Yes, I think so. I kept however wanting for it to fill my mouth, cover every inch of it, and it kind of never does. Feels like it's a bit too soft for it's own good. But certainly not a bad wine - I'd drink this any day over many other whites.

Fine, clean acid nose. No new world grassiness. Fine fruit flavours held by restrained acid backbone. 14 alc. No austere mouthful of acid that can be Sancerre, yet with still the acid to go well with shellfish. I expected to hold these a few years, but these might not last the summer.

Medium (+) body. A very good Sancerre with a very high alcohol content of 14%. Part of my WSET3 exam prep. Drink now or over the next couple of years. Goes well with cheeses, fish or shellfish.

This is a classy, very pleasing, uplifting drop for a summer's evening with some sauteed fish and runner beans, or a lively salad with mild cheese and hard boiled eggs. As one would expect, it shows all the well known Sauvingon Blanc characteristics: herbal, grassy and pungent with a sharpish acidity. I confess I was unable to find all the fruits and comestibles others have detected in this (but if they insist, I found cucumber and sage), as I do not think it a particularly complex and nuanced product. If indeed there are subtle and mysterious qualities here, I think the level of alcohol may be masking them. In my store this was $32 USD which I think is a little steep. None the less, an invigorating drop with the right food, but not, I fear, on its own as the sun goes down.

A really capable Sancerre, this went a treat with Japanese seafood. The nose was classic Sancerre, if perhaps just veering towards the riper part of the spectrum, with white peach and red apples flecked with notes of flinty mineral and greener gooseberries, and just that lift of white flowers. With time, I thought a little tropical edge of lychee peeked out as well. Very attractive. The palate was where this really shone though - bright, tensile, with lots of energy and definition, it unfolded through the mouth with lovely, pure notes of pomelo and apple flesh pierced with just the right amount to citrus zest. Lovely finish too, with a neat mineral tail pulling away with a little kiss of spice at the side. At this price and level, you really cannot be asking for more. A lovely food-friendly wine, drinking well in its youth. (Brought to Darren and Sophia's)

This bottle was included in a "Lobenbergs Wein-Abo" subscription. Light yellow-green colour. Citrus, green apple, light ripe gooseberry, some lychee, light herbaceous notes, freshly cut grass, and light minerality, with fresh acidity and good length. A little fuller than your typical Sancerre, with higher than usual viscosity, but the wine contains the high alcohol (14% ABV) well. Fresh, crisp and food friendly. Solid, but at €22 this is nothing to rave of either.

As other notes suggest, this is classic Sancerre profile: crisp, cut grass, and all that. But it also has a pleasant suggestion of richness and viscosity. In the recent past we’ve had various Vacheron vineyard designated bottlings, not this general cuvée — and our impression is that this bottling is more open and accessible. At 14% it’s pretty high — yet it carries that weight well. Very enjoyable over three nights, and we purchased another.
Appearance: pale straw/ medium gold, clear Nose: green apple, quince, pear Palate: medium to high acidity; lightly oily mouth feel; ripe pear, white peach, lemon peel especially towards the finish; really good length citrus oil
Beautiful
