  • Deep gold in color. Nose of dried apricots, bruised apple and preserved lemons. Rich but weightless on the palate. High acid and almost dry. Great phenolic grip. Lengthy, permeating finish. This is outstanding.

  • Small bottles, blind, from Seth. One whiff from the bottle and it's Austrian dry riesling, case closed. Classic dried peaches, apricots, light vanilla cream, flinty minerals in spades. Utterly clean, linear nose, pure and direct. Plenty of flavor on the palate without much weight, crisp and pure, with sneaky intensity - already the flavor had me thinking Hirtzberger but the palate weight is not close to the density of their Smaragds, at least that I am used to. So it was a bit of a surprise to learn this was the great Singerriedel. Excellent wine, thanks Seth!

  • (From Conterno Sensory). Nose isn’t as explosive as I would expect/hope for, but it is very pretty - potent apricots and dried apricots, a real nice combo of the yellow fruit and stones-minerals, some spices and maybe a touch of bacon. The palate is enters quiet and ramps up to be very potent but contained - yellow fruits, apricots, very spicy, good minerality. Very salty and minerally going into the finish along with a dollop of apricot. Long and salty and good. Nose: 5-5.5/6, Palate - 5-5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 16-17.5/20.

  • Big thing ! This needs decades in the cellar and hours in the decanter. Bought on release and patience has been rewarded again. The sweetness is nearly gone. Immense minerality with huge concentration but not heavy or too much. No easy drinking. This liquid has a lot to tell. Drank over 4 h and enjoyed an amazing riesling festival. This is not the end. I ll wait for the next bottle till 2024 ! 95+

  • Light golden yellow color, mixed orchard fruit nose initially and greatly expanded over the next 60 minutes. Luscious dense peach/apricot/ pear fruit, nice acidity, medium weight on palate, a bit of spice with a heavenly long finish. No flaws in this masterpiece! Fantastic paired with butter braised halibut cheeks.

  • Powerful, fruity aromas. On the palate, apricot and other stone fruit predominate, with spice, a bit of citrus and something slightly bitter on the finish. Full-bodied, layered, oily texture, leavened with acid and finishing long. Rich, involving and delicious. I only wish these wines weren't so damn hard to find.

  • Beautiful golden colour. Fat layers of tropical fruit, both on the nose and the palate, but good acidity keeps this wine balanced and inspiring. Probably at its pinnacle, but still 10+ years of Austrian top-riesling pleasure ahead.

  • Rich yellow; sweet butter and sunflower; very rich and flavoury, good acidity, good body, a bit of sweetness, in really good balance, nice long aftertaste; singing; excellent

  • Explosive nose of tropicals, botrytis, orchard fruit - peach and apricots to the nth degree. Very spicy. Thick on the palate and spicy, huge and almost feels sweet from the ripe fruit and concentration. This is the vinous equivalent of a bomb. 17.5/20.

  • Deep and golden in both flavor and physical color, but has retained every bit of the stony detail it showed on day one. Probably at peak

  • Nose: Caramel, apricot compote, honey, a hint of mint. On the palate slightly salty, candied yellow fruits, a little heavy on the alcohol but still very well integrated.

  • Powerful nose of pineapple, honey and cane sugar. Unctuous and sticky on the palate with great structure and length. This is Grand Cru level wine. Unbelievable stuff.

  • Subtle tropical fruit and honey on the nose. Medium bodied, dry, showing a bit fading yellow fruit with notes of mineral and a matured, funky aspect. Very good. Has developed nicely. My favorite in the riesling flight.

  • Goldgelbe Farbe, fett, würzige Noten in der Nase und am Gaumen. Feine Balance zwischen Holzeinsatz, Fruchtaromen und etwas Kräutern. Alkohol deutlich spürbar. An diesem Abend etwas enttäuschend.

  • I opened my previous bottle in 2009, liked it a lot and thought that it had potential to develop greater complexity and become really great with some more age. Well, on the showing of this bottle, I was wrong. The deficiencies, which I hoped would be backgrounded by maturity, have on the contrary been magnified, particularly low acidity and high alcohol (14%). Although theoretically dry, this quite full bodied Riesling now seemed subjectively a little sweet with a burnished cane sugar touch and burn on the firm finish. There were some lovely white fruit and flower aromas on the nose and palate but they were overwhelmed by the lack of freshness and by the alcohol. It's probable that this wine is better balanced in some other vintages, 2006 being a flabby vintage for white wine in much of Europe. Quite good but should be a lot more.

  • Vinklubben 1983's yearly X-mas dinner (Hos Britt): DnP. Pale yellow. Spicy fruit, sweetish, buttery notes. Mellow harmonious palate ala Cotes du Beaune, spicy, quite some weight. Drink now-onwards. One of the most heavy Rieslings I've had the pleasure of drinking. Very interesting.

  • No formal notes. Paired well with spicy asian food.

  • Note to self: WAIT

This was just a bit too disjointed to me. Rich, full and oily - that's good! A bit too much booze, not enough acid or anything resembling balance. Thought this would be a perfect complement to Szechuan and it was simply its own very selfish entity!

  • Very rich, slightly honeyed nose with a lot of fruit, citrus, some complexity and some heat. Full-bodied, rather sharp and fat, too high in alcohol and low acidity, somewhat hollow in the middle, very dry. Not mine at all.

  • Just silly good. My other notes but just better, even. (Trying out my new Coravin - this is the first white I'm trying with it.) Would I prefer a Coche Corton Charlemagne or terrific Chevalier Montrachet from a great producer? Maybe, but at $50, this steals the day, hands down. Not cheap, but this is playing in the big leagues and, as such, is a stellar QPR.

  • The nose keeps changing, giving off candied orange, creamy lemon, mango, a grassy/meadowy quality, and a smoky, rocky note. Concentrated and dense with good balancing acidity, but given the concentration I wanted a bit more intensity in the midpalate, and there's an odd bitter note on the finish. I liked this but don't quite get the hype.

  • This bottle was far more aged and more oily. Nice and a bit off-dry fruit. Acid could have been better. Pretty different to my last bottle from a different storage facility.

  • 2010 Northern Rhones (+treats) at Ross' place: Tasted double blind. Medium yellow-gold. Pit fruit and peach, smoke and flint on the nose. Crisp and light on its feet on the palate, but with good concentration. Some pit fruit, bitter, broth and smoke. good acidity, elegant. Broth and saline on the finish. At first I was thinking dry german, maybe GG, outside of the Mosel, but swtiched to Austria - thinking it was a 01 Prager Achleiten. Nose - 4.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5/20.

  • 2010 Northern Rhones tasted blind (Ross', NYC): Another fantastic bottle. Powerful and opulent with ripe citrus and tropical fruit, stony mineral elements and more flamboyant spicy, honeyed and floral elements all coming together very seamlessly. It's very rich, slightly oily on the palate, but there's great balance with bright acidity beneath and good length.

  • Farewell to the Summer Lunch by J.K.'s Swimming Pool: Wow! Definitely one of the greatest whites I have ever come across. Explosive nose of tropical fruits like mango, pineapple and passionfruit alongside floral notes of magnolia and minerality. On the palate it is full-bodied and dense with noticeable sweetness, high fruit concentration and balancing acidity. Powerful and dense without being heavy by any means. Very long aftertaste. Still quite young, will drink nicely for the next decade. Flirting with perfection.

  • Hirtzberger's Singerriedel is a wine I know and I admire, but this time it astounded me. Much better showing than 3 years ago, still in its youthful freshness, with white blossoms, minerality and purity of fruit! We had it together with the massive Sublime Isolation 2003 white from Sine Qua Non and it was here, by comparison, that it showed to me the concentration and power this wine has. And yet it retains elegance. Slightly sweet palate, so better to pair with meat than fish. Amazing finish. One of the great Rieslings of the world!

  • Like the last bottle I had, and this is fantastic - just a great example of what I expect from Singerriedel with layers of ripe fruit, spice, florality, stoniness and a richer sappy, almost oily element all coming together seamlessly. It's a powerhouse of a wine; ripe, intense, concentrated and yet impeccably balanced and very long. Stunning.

  • Dinner @ Salil's (Vernon, CT): Perhaps I am overrating this wine, as it was the first wine of the night and it hit me at just the right time and place. This had it all for me, opulance, sap, minerals and fantastic length. Citrus skin, apples, orange oil and a lip smaking stoniness that resonated on the finish and clung on the palate for quite some time. Fabulous showing.

  • No formal notes. Opulent (14%) but very well balanced and totally dry. Hint of exotic notes, pear and apricot with a fine minerality. Very nice.

  • Flamboyant, opulent, palate-stainingly intense and yet so incredibly pure, focused and balanced. This is something really special. Layers of ripe fruit, florality, minerality and spice, still very youthful and conveying flavour with remarkable purity and persistence. Wow!

  • Again, stunning riesling. Rich, perhaps a bit less zip/acidity than the first btl I had. This is definitely flamboyant, and ever so good.

  • Kelly and Kevin’s excellent adventure before WWS 2012; 11/4/2012-11/11/2012 (La Morra): A big scale wine, peach, apricot, mineral, saline, clove and ends with pineapple note. Unctuous, chewy a hint of sweetness coming from very ripe fruits informed by Kelly, bright acidity and extreme mineral expression. It reminds me a bit of Zind Humbrecht but more precise, acidic and dry. Impressive wine.

  • First experience with an Austrian riesling and certainly not the last. What a beautiful sharp, fresh, well defined wine! Lush, golden color. Nose with nice combination of green apple, minerals, flint, wet stone, iron on one side and sweeter notes of honey, melon, apricot, hazelnuts on the other. Mouthfilling, juicy taste with crisp acidity on the cheeks (like eating a Granny Smith apple or pineapple) and sweeter tongue feeling. Pleasant, tickling salty sensation in the finish. Very good delineation. Excellent wine.

  • This wine really makes an impact. Big, bold, and unabashed, this has superlative raw material that shows through on the nose (which is alluring and at the same time very powerful) and the palate (which is bursting with exotic fruits, dry extract, and acidity). And somehow everything is remarkably balanced. Not a subtle wine but totally delicious.

  • Medium green-yellow. Lots of minerals, pear. Subtle but ripe. Very plush and toned in entry: ripe and juicy. Lots of extract. Finish shows apricot, peach, minerals. A little volatile, not quite focused. Nose - 4/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15/20.

  • Tuscan wine gathering at Bluegrass Restaurant - Showing my dedication to Baltimore winos (Bluegrass restaurant, Baltimore): This is a BIG wine. Based on the initial nose, I would have guessed as an Alsatian Pinot Blanc for its richness and a hint of lychee fruit. Pineapple, rose, limestone, seashell and clove. The concentrated ripe gives the wine very sweet impression but the finish is dry. Chewy unctuous palate with excellent mineral components, bright acidity and structure. Very impressive to say the least.

  • Quite a powerhouse. Packed with ripe orchard fruits, floral, spicy and mineral flavours, all conveyed with incredible intensity and power. There's a lot of material here and it feels rather dense at first, though with air it calms down a little as the fruit takes a step back and the mineral elements come to the foreground. Impressive, though the alcohol seems a bit much and I'm not sure how it'll age as even right now there's a faint tinge of alcoholic heat on the back end.

  • Amazing wine. Deep lemony colour. Nose is very refined with intense ripe Riesling aromas. Palate is immensely concentrated, full bodied with a slight sweetness and a lasting afterstaste. My friend Yiannis was right to warn me of the late-harvest character of the wine and not to match it with fish but rather with white meat.

  • Wow. Nose of tropical fruit inflected citrus with ever-so-slight diesel undertone - suggests deep riesling to follow, and it does not disappoint. Rich, palate soaking and staining flavors not unlike ZH riesling but with less sugar? - seems like it is going to be sweet but isn't quite; comes across as dry, also some spice to it. Has the rich texture and mouth-feel of a big, ripe ZH but drier (think Olivier's Indice 1 or 2). Definitely ripe, but racy and energetic at the same time. Good acidity. I love this. 94- 96. How long will this keep? Don't know, but hard to imagine it improves from here, so I'll just drink em as the mood catches me. Agree with KL that there is almost a gewurz quality/flavor to this.

  • A masterpiece! Seductive nose with candied lemon, pineapple, honeysuckle, pears and minerality. Mid+ bodied with very rich fruit, sweetness, minerality, high acidity and an almost endless finish. Will continue to evolve nicely for many years.

  • I've noticed that many 2006s are becoming more classical in style than I'd ever imagined they could be on release, but not this one -- there's no doubting that the 2006 Singerriedel comes from a fat vintage. The fruit complexion is brassy and golden, advanced and much deeper in both visual tone as well as palate impression than any young Singerriedel I've had. That may raise a bit of a question mark about whether this will be as long-lived as the Singerriedel track record suggests, but there's no doubting how delicious it is now. Despite the deep tone of the fruit it is lusciously tropical in flavor, which combined with a subtle spiciness almost tastes reminiscent of gewurtztraminer. At its core the intensity of the fruit is almost syrupy but the wine is so solidly structured around it, practically gothic in all its soaring walls and pinpoint angles, that there's nothing even remotely listless about it. Instead it's like a cathedral of Singerriedel with the sun streaming in.

  • Uncorked DK Sine Qua Non Event (and some pretty interesting jokers...) (Restaurant Premisse, Copenhagen): Slightly golden yellow. Lightly sweet very mineralistic almost vulcanic nose with smoked exotic fruits. Full-bodied and fat, yet with good acid. Dominated by exotic fruits. Nice aftertaste with some cinnamon like spicyness and a bit of alcoholic warmth. The nose reminded me of a Heymann-Löwenstein, but the wine pretty much fooled us into thinking of a white rhône blend.

  • Rich and full bodied for an Austrian Riesling, but surprisingly solid acidity, lots of spice, and not heavy or cloying (at least in the context of our tasting in which a number of heavier, and IMO somewhat cloying, Z-H Alsatians were present).

  • UK Wine Forum 'Vintage Pairs' Offline (Le Colombier, London): Floral, slightly honeyed nose. Great acidity, classic austrian riesling flavour profile and smaragd richness/texture. Huge flavour up front, then dies away a bit lacking intensity and persistence in the midde, but then comes back for a long finish with lovely freshness. Very young. ***(*)

  • UK Wine Pages - Vintage Pairs Offline (Le Colombier, Kensington, London): Pale/medium lemon. Sweet, peachy nose, slightly floral. Full bodied on the palate, only moderate acidity, peachy, reasonable length finish. Not really my thing, lacks freshness and grace.

  • Outstanding...I was worried the wine would either show its alcohol or be cloyingly heavy. It was neither. Terrific complexity and minerality without the bitterness of heaviness of overripeness. Great focus/precision. I hope the alcohol doesn't creep forward as this ages, but right now it's really drinking well.

  • Gorgeous layered infanticide. Had to try this. Was told to go slow and drink over days.
Day 1: Medium bodied, spicy citrus nose. Hits the tongue with a vibrancy of youth -sweet yet tart with an effervescence. Extremely well balanced and complex. Finishes lovely and long, lingering for hours. Very impressive.
Day 2: Bit closed and less vibrant
Dqy 3: Wow. If I have any clue as to where this might be going, then headed straight towards indescribably, insanely flat out delicious. Like handing the keys of your new Lotus over to your 8 year old son to learn on the driveway. Wiser to wait until 20something.
