This finally aged enough to be enjoyable. Very nice Cab Franc that goes with anything in a casual setting. Needs some air (gave it about 90 minutes) but the fruit shows and it went very well with a whole assortment of Mediterranean stuff. Not going to knock your socks off but a good value every day wine.

Deep and brilliant ruby with magenta hints, nose is quite rustic yet with a finesse, crushed blueberries, macerated strawberries, charred bell pepper, burnt tobacco, cola, pine cones and a minty, leafy accent. Medium bodied, energetic, quite ready, palate is juicy, with racy acidity, high minerality, integrated alcohol (13.5%), simply blue and red fruits among the peppery and earthy finish. Silky medium tannins. Distinctive style, a producer to watch in the Loire Valley. Drink from 2025-2030. 100% Cabernet Franc.

Barnyard and green bell pepper, green bell pepper and barnyard. Some, little, cherry and cassis lurking in the background. Strong aromas for that price. But who likes strong green bell pepper in a barnyard?? Rustic and rather not delightful mixture of aromas. Will four more years of aging perhaps do any good?
Addendum after 1 week in the fridge: mellowed, integrated, nice cherry notes, added complexity. Still a few harsh and geen notes, but really improved (90 points now). So hold on to your bottles! This is nowhere near ready! Do not drink this now! 2026+ earliest! (Or give it a full 10 hours decant)

An entry level CF from a respectable producer. Made from 50-60 year old wines and aged in steel for 6-12 months. Deep ruby colour. Quite intense and very fruity aroma filled with blackberries, blueberries, cherries, licorice, hint of juniper. Medium body, fresh and lively structure with juicy texture, overly fruit forward and slightly spicy flavours, medium light acidity, grainy rich tannins.

Gets better and better with bottle age. Verges on a 92. Probably not statistically significant. Probably will not improve, but will last on a long plane of maturity.

Becky Wassermann (or at least her website) was speaking of Guiberteau’s Chenins when she described them as “of punk rock violence, yet of Bach-like logic and profoundness”, but she might have as well be talking about this entry level Rouge. This hits all the right Loire Cab Franc notes but in such an assertive, creative way. Excellent winemaking, and a stunning value.

Nice nose with green bell pepper and red fruit. A bit of licorice as well. Palate has raspberries with some black pepper on the finish. Overall a very nice Loire cabernet franc.

Complex wine showing good fruit and significant tannin.Pleasant fruity nose. Well balanced wine that will benefit from a little bottle age. Each sip gets better.

Bell pepper, menthol, and earth. There’s also dark fruit, but it’s not leading the nose.
Medium acid and tannin.
Do not let the Saumur AOC fool you. This bottling comes from organic ~65 year old vines. There’s tremendous concentration in this layered wine and it goes to show that Guiberteau’s reds are just as good as his whites.

More fruit forward, less complex than previous vintages. Could probably benefit from a bit more time in bottle.
