This is an enjoyable Zinfandel with lots of black cherries, plums and cranberries. The firm acidity holds in check the sweetness of the fruit. It is certainly at its peak and probably will not improve, so I would recommend enjoying your bottles sooner rather than later.

This is an enjoyable Zinfandel with lots of black cherries and plums with firm acidity. It should have a couple more years to go on its primary drinking window.

This vintage of Ponzo is 97% Zin and 3% Petite Sirah. A thin rim of cranberry that almost instantly turns opaque black. The nose is sweet with black cherry, plum, rhubarb, Zin funk, and brown sugar. The nose and palate are “sweet”. Is it the sweetness of the fruit or a touch of RS? Dunno. Not at all cloying; abundant acid carries without balancing out the sweetness. Very clean with no sediment. 14% alc. Without food initially during the ‘Dega race (Blaney wins!) and then with pizza including duck. 10.01.23. Recommended with Reservations due to the sweetness.

Medium-dark garnet color. Tight but tasty nose of fruit punch and alcohol. Still quite young to drink, but delicious nonetheless. Delicious notes of black raspberries, plum skin, mulberries, and deliciously sour tannins. I love everything Ridge does.

I don't think I enjoyed this as much as the previous bottle but definitely a little better after being opened up for 24 hours. Wonderfully complex nose. More fruit and acidity coming through this time. A little thin.

Well made Zin but a little on the lighter side. Woodsy barrel notes coming through in the nose. Mouthwatering fruit and acidity with a slight savory and tannic punch at the end.

Ridge Lytton Springs Tasting: Opened with a tiny bit of funk. Otherwise, the 2018 Ponzo is a predominantly bright red-fruited wine with notes of tart cranberry on its long, pleasantly acidic finish. Drink over the next 5-7 years.

Drank this because JO said enjoyable over the next 5-6 years. May be a sleeper, as quite pleasant. Not as good as the aged Lytton Springs, but excellent fruit and drinking well.

One of the less expensive Ridge Zins but very enjoyable to drink. Not quite as bold and brash as other Zins but it is smooth and tasty. Cherry, blueberry, tart plum, and vanilla.

A great everyday drinking Zinfandel in the Ridge house style. Everything in balance, the right amount of fruit v acidity, great with tonight’s cheeseburgers. An excellent value.

Dark fruit of blackberry and black cherry, vanilla and some slight tartness. Very smooth and balanced with a long finish. Enjoyable wine and not at all bold and jammy for a Zin. Recommended!

Just very good Ridge (as always). With a vegetarian dish. Super good combination. Good fruit and structure. Decent length and medium weight. Yummy.

In a good place with some breathing upfront—lovely and energetic apricot notes on the palate, full of life in this 97% Zin blend.

Light/midweight, good acidity. A fresh look at American Zin. Miles away from a jam bomb.

A bit thin. Not as much fruit. Light. Even sipping afterwards. Have one more

Fleshy and full bodied. Again Petit Sirah balances.

Blackberry, pastry, cocoa, some acidity, not sweet but still very primary. Give this one another year or two.
