A nice Merlot for the money. Good fruit with tannins mostly in check although it does have a slight after-bite. Definitely better once it had a chance to breathe.

Good value 2018 Robert Mondavi Winery Merlot Napa Valley ($15 on sale, COSTCO). Mid-garnet, viscous (15.0 alc.); red fruit, herbaceous, cocoa and floral nose; low-mid acids; mid tannins; good fruit; long semi-hot red fruit finish. w/beef stew. 15.5-16 UC Davis scale, 89-90 other scales.

Plums, blackberries, and licorice, with some fresh herbs sprinkled throughout. Sultry and full bodied, displaying a youthful character that helps maintain structure, concentration, and length. Good now but it will gain nuance and complexity in the cellar.

Very good wine overall. Even better after decanting after an hour. Can lay down for a few years

Ripe and round on the nose. And a little bit of a clip on the back of the palate.
