Decanter Fine Wine Encounter (The Landmark, London): Medium minus intensity aromas of cream, blackcurrant, blackberry, slightly chalky underpin on the nose. Juicy, savoury, slightly flat though, hmm. Perhaps I have a little palate fatigue?

Rauzan-Gassies has been on a roll lately and 2019 continues its positive trend. Medium-bodied. soft, polished, fresh, and vibrant, the chewy, red fruits come with an intriguing, orange citrus, espresso, and spice accent on the nose and palate. The fruit has a smoked, savory edge with a nice floral background note. Drink from 2024-2040.

90 vvPunkte Reife Frucht, Röstnoten, Tee, rauchige Noten. Im Gaumen mit roter Frucht, einem mittleren Körper, runden Tanninen, sehr gute Harmonie, nicht sonderlich lang im Abgang, jedoch stimmiger als auch schon. 2024-2035+. vvWine.ch

Arvi Bordeaux 2019 Arrivage (Dolder Grand, Zurich): Tasting of 25 wines (2 whites, 3 sweet, no first growths) at a Bordeaux 2019 in the bottle event. My observations were: i/ the tannic structure was soft and well-integrated across the board, ii/ the fruit was generally fresh and light with no heavy-handed extractions, iii/ Top wines were Client (97), Léoville Barton (96) and Smith Haut Lafitte (96). More thoughts and list of wines included in the tasting story.
Tasting note: Red berry fruit, herbal flavours, scorched earth and black coffee provide for an appealing bouquet. But there was more than plenty of acidity on the palate and this was also a rare case of mouthcoating tannin in the vintage which limited the overall experience.

89-90 vvPunkte Reiffruchtige Nase, zeigt Tiefe, Tee, rauchige Noten. Im Auftakt mit ordentlich Druck, feine Gerbstoffe, mittlere Säure, wirkt lebhaft und balanciert, vielleicht etwas eindimensional in der Aromatik, hält mittellang an im Abgang. Dürfte früh Spass bereiten. 2024-2036. (Juni 2020)
