Popped and poured to accompany roast chicken. Darker but still translucent ruby color. Pungent but contained nose of deep soil, violets, graphite, underbrush. Black raspberry and Bing cherry fruit on the seriously weighted palate cut with craggy stone and iron. Firm tannin and young acidity. Longer finish of pure dark fruit, brambles, and iron. Makes a statement.

One of the joys of Burgundy is discovering producers like this. Dark ruby in colour, this is a fresh and gentle wine but yet packs quite a punch. Glorious red strawberry and cherry fruits, wonderful acidity and drive towards a nuanced and layered finish which I really like. Textbook Volnay, and some 1er cru fruit I believe.

Académie des Cinquante Burgundy Tasting (Online): Elegant and silky style, pure and relaxed, well defined, lovely floral lift (roses) with a hint of spice, has a natural feel to it, good weight of ripe red berry fruit and characteristic Volnay nervosité, still a bit tight on the finish, but good to very good resonance and length. Stylish. I love the typicity here - it needs two to three years.

Medium+ nose intensity with notes of red fruits, red currant. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Medium finish.

January Wine Tasting & Sale (Chicago.wine - Glenview IL): Walkaround tasting. Earth and red cherry in equal proportion. Good depth. Not as pristine as I'd prefer at this young age.

A bit reduced, decanted 45 minutes and served cool, trending to darker fruits, quite light though, just pretty still. Very promising
