First time PJ Kuhn for me. Petrol on the nose, good freshness with pomelo, citrus and some grassyness. Pleasurable but not outstanding, expected a bit more from this renowned name.

Golden yellow colour, smells of quince and gooseberry with a little bit of petrol in the background, medium body, dry, but not in a harsh way, second glass has a nice and medium acidity, in the mouth quince and gooseberry, in the aftertaste gooseberry and quince, good length (15 sec), good Riesling. Thankfully not corked like the other bottle I had.

Palate: Concentrated juice together with very balanced freshness and acid, honey flavors!, melty yellow fruit, pineapple, straight, good length and complexity.
Takes about 1h after opening to discover the (for me surprising) beauty of this wine. A lot of quality for money, 13 Euro in Germany.

I liked this especially since it is an entry level wine to a top Estate with real cork closure. Spritzy, dry as a bone, mineral. A tad too austère for me to re-buy but thanks for the real cork and crispy freshness!

I have had a number of PJK's mid to high level riesling and they have all been fabulous. While I expected that their entry-level would be good as well, I was blown away by just how fantastic it is. YUM! Pure, refined and all around delicious. Will definitely buy this again (and again).

These days, almost every German white wine (even the top quality ones) has a screw cap. And there is a good reason for that: no cork taint anymore. Unfortunately, this bottle had an old-fashioned cork. As much as I liked opening a bottle of Riesling like in the old days (the “plop” sound that heralds a good time), smelling the cork brought back not so good memories. Pale golden colour, smells of mirabelle and apricot, medium body, dry, but not in a tart way, after the second glass there is a nice acidity, in the mouth quince and grapefruit with a little bit of wet cardboard in the background, in the aftertaste grapefruit and a little bit of wet cardboard, good length (15 sec), really a pity it was slightly corked; it was still drinkable though. But it marred what would have been an excellent Riesling. I hope the second bottle I have is not flawed.

12% vol Super purity and lift right of the bat, and pretty and delicate as Riesling should be. Fragrant peach and lime make for an easy and inviting nose that develops notes of tea and stone fruit kernels as well as a spicy mineral feel. The palate is crisp and very clear with lovely intensity and mineral interplay, it feels very fine and pure with leaner flavours of lemon citrus, talc and violet.
12 months maturation (30% in fuder on gross lees)
Jacobus is always a great value, but this is especially good, and the quality of 2019 really shows through.

Not my preferred wine but rather nice. This went very well with food and when chilled toned down the acidity nicely.
Citrus like acidity with a rich creamy palette weight.

Well earned reputation PJK. A top notch example of entry level riesling, lemon lime crystalline goodness, more zest than juice.

Wow, even better compared to the 2018 vintage. More dense but with the same notes of slightly oxidated apples, bees wax, lime etc...
