  • Yearly check-in tasting. This wine is still angular, bright, mineral-laden cherry, florals, and mountain rock. It's excellent, but best on day-3. That tells me there is a lot of life left in this wine and that it is capable of aging for a very long time.

  • A good value cab, but it was not memorable enough to write a note.

  • For my tastes, this is the best dN cab I've had, and I've had quite a bit of dN cab

  • For $14 its a nice wine, I've had 14 different de Negoce and not a bad one yet.

  • Redolent with bing cherry, and a saline red fruit & rhubarb pie, garrigue, with uplifting acidity. It has beautiful mountain characteristics of minerality and florals, but this also has some power as well. This wine will age. The oak takes a backseat, and that’s perfect as it provides a nice balance, but doesn’t overwhelm with new oak. This is a fantastic value. Looking forward to trying this again in a couple of years.

  • One of the better of the dN wines. Nice fruit, uplifting acidity, lighter on tannin but enjoyable.

  • Decanted for 30 min, then back into bottle.

Nose is true cherry (slightly syrup-like in character but not syrupy). Twirling the glass brings out black fruit and cassis surrounded by cedar, and maybe even a touch floral. Palate is phenomenal and extremely elegant. Bright acid uplifts the true red cherry fruit, with a slight herbal tinge. Decidedly medium body. Finish goes to black fruit and cassis, but the acid returns and brings a raspberry note, maybe even some black tea. Very fine tannins.

Personally, I love this style of Cabernet. Restrained, elegant, classy, plenty of acid, minimal oak, laser-like focus on the fruit. This might not be everyone's preference but I do really enjoy it. Similar to N.251 in style and character.

Drink now, can hold for ~5 years or maybe longer.

  • Definitely needs time to open. I found it a little more acidic that I recall and for me, it felt flat on the finish. This could be that I didn't give it time to open (poor planning I guess).
There was more minerality than fruit for me - I liked it but not certain I would re-order compared to others that I found to be more in line with my tastes.

  • A bit green on the nose with not much fruit on the nose at first. Bell peppers and tomato leaf. On the palate again not much fruit, but instead dominated by the savoury elements. A bit harsh and green on entry. Then some herbal and floral notes of sage and roses. After 3h some red fruits started to emerge on the palate, took another hour for those to start to emerge on the nose. Raspberry, cherries, and underbrush. Overall, it seems a bit disjointed at the moment and needs time. I’d give this at least 3 years, preferably closer to 5 before checking in on it again.

  • Day 2
Tomato leaf, intense and complex on the nose today, Oak is well integrated, A touch sweet but with herbal nuances lending freshness. This is fun, probably unusual for 2018 California Cabernet at a certain price point. It’s got plenty of red fruit, almost lush, well defined flavors that are a touch simple but very pleasant, decent length, well judged flavors,. Pretty much ready to drink. Lovey 88-90
