This is a huge wine, (16% ABV) and not to everyone's taste. To me this has entered an awkward stage and is somewhat disaggregated. A couple more years in the bottle will hopefully round it out.

Clio 2018 from Bodegas El Nido is incredibly good now, drank my first 2018 in 2020, then too young, sprawling, boozy. Now it is what Clio should be, warm, harmonious, wonderful fruit, good balance between acid and tannins, the alcohol is at the right level. It will be even better with more years in the cellar of course. Drink or hold

Year 2018 Fullbody wine, fantastic with blackberry and chocolate taste - well balanced tannins and a long lasting taste problably just better and better if kept in cellar even more years. Bottle was a magnum.

Medium ruby Pronounced nose of strawberry compote, bramble coulis, prune, vanilla, toast, baking spice, chocolate, sweet tobacco, smoke , menthol, potting soil, (so old world) Dry, medium (+) acidity, medium (+) chalky tannin, high alcohol (16%) full body, pronounced intensity and long finish B - balanced concentrated fruit and acidity BUT alcohol stuck out for me L- great I- ideal C-complex
Very good quality which would have been outstanding if the alcohol were better integrated Suitable for ageing as plenty going on here and lots of tannin and acidity to preserve it.
Guesses: I got that black fruit and menthol in a fruit driven matrix. Firm tannins here with pronounced aromas. Wine didn't seem verging on the off dry and so went for Australian Cab sav (coonawara)
Mistakes: Nope its Julmila CLIO (30% cab 70% monastrell ) 2018 I saw the Cab sav but missed any black pepper in the monastrell here. In addition, the glycerol texture was unusual.
Its a lovely wine. I would buy this again. Wish I could find more producers. Always seems to be the same one available.

This wine may have gone into an "awkward" stage of adolescence. It's now coming off as somewhat green, fragmented and without the tannic structure to balance the powerful, forward fruit. Strange. My first two bottles were nicely balanced lead me to believe the wine was ready to go. May wait a year for the next bottle.

One of the best red wines I’ve had this year especially for the price. Really good concentrated dark fruit and vanilla. I fell in love with the tannins in this wine. They were very silky and gave the wine an amazing texture. I’ve had other Juan Gil monastrell wines that were not as integrated as this. They were always more abrasive. This to me is an easy crowd pleaser. Looking more into the wine I believe the Cabernet is filling out the mid palate that can be a little rough with 100% monastrell.

The 2018 Clio is an absolute monster from Jumilla clocking in at a massive 16% abv. After about 5 hours of airtime this wine really began to shine. Cherry, wild raspberry, and blueberry jump out in the nose with undertones of freshly burnt logs, thyme, and jasmine. Full body, high acid, high tannin, and high but well incorporated alcohol. The palate comes with prune, blackberry, overturned dirt, pepper, and dark chocolate shavings.
While this is a good wine it’s still slightly disjointed at the moment. Drinkable, but would definitely benefit from being set down for another year or so. Josh Reynolds gave 93 points, I agree.

Subdued nose when served at 60 degrees. lots of black fruit, smooth long finish, enough acidity, noticeable takedowns. The alcohol becomes more obvious and the oak less obvious as this wine warms up in the glass
I agree with the prior reviews who suggested that this vintage isn't quite ready. It's not as tight as prior vintages, feels unbalanced and, unusually, the alcohol sticks out.
I think that, as with the Juan Gil 18 Meses and 12 Mese wines, Clio is much better when its chilled to 60 degrees. This is especially so with the 2018 vintage, maybe something about it being unbalanced right now?

Raspberry and camphor on the nose. On the palate, rich red and black berry fruit with a strong note of oaky vanilla and some sourness on the medium finish, with strong acidity. I agree with the other notes here: This is not ready yet; it needs a year or so to put itself together.

Have tested 2018 for two days. 2016 was magical right when it came, 2017 was not finished, but needed at least a year before it started to open. 2018 is just like 2017, not finished yet. Far too sprawling day 1, lacks elegance, too much alcohol. Day 2, much better but the alcohol sticks a little too much, the scent is still a bit restrained. But you notice that most of it is there but it takes 1-2 more years before it is in place. Will wait at least 1 year before bottle no. 2 of 6, opens 👍

Wonderful rendition of Clio. Probably better on its' own than with the steaks.

Classic Clio. No formal notes. Disagree that's it's too young to drink now.

Big and bold blend of monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon at 16% alcohol. It cries out for a good steak.
