More earth and floral influences at this age than fruit, but palate still offers moderate if not life-affirming concentration, including purple plum, a bit of raspberry and a crisp finish. Subtle (but) enjoyable, certainly peaked 5+ years ago.

End of life. Needed to warm up from cellar temp, and open up a bit. An elegant, gentle, frail old lady, but still with a refreshing freshness and vigor as she holds on.

The Embodiment of Memory (Bob's House - Alexandria, VA): This created a conversation around whether or not this was reduced. I fell into the camp that found it a bit port-like with a purple fruit component that seemed alien and unnatural. With some air, the reduction seemed to moderate a bit revealing tobacco spice, sweet red fruit and some rose tones. To me, this was a slightly off bottle.

Still super-tight and primary. Tobaccoey plum and cassis fruit meet that inimitable leafy, gravelly, chalky Bourgueil soil expression, but the wine is still tannic and relatively unyielding. This needs major time in the decanter or another decade in the cellar.

Not much fruit left. Nice acid--but not much interesting notes. Past its prime.
