Very light and crisp, only a little red cherry and raspberry and strawberry fruit left, the high acidity is the main feature now. Considering its age, this is still a lovely and very drinkable DRC. But it is not a vintage of great complexity. - (93 points)

At 37 years, this is now an elegant old lady. Garnet hues with some tawny edging. A wine of delicacy rather than power and structure. Gentle perfume and flowers on the nose. Lighted bodied. A true taste of history and a very generous sharing from a friend whose father bought this by the case in the 90s and stored well. From PM in Valence.

Flaska i fint skick men utan tvekan "over the hill". Har fortfarande kvar en del fin frukt men har väl mycket toner av kokt kål och svamp. Vass ren syra. Fortfarande väldigt gott

Friday after Thanksgiving (FAT) (Palm Beach Gardens FL): Black fruit on nose shows reasonable amount of age, just modest spice. Same black fruit on palate, slightly muddy. Moderate length and finesse, by far the least interesting of the 8 vintages of DRC RSV that night.

Romanee St.-Vivant Dinner (Sepia - Chicago IL): Dark fruit and Asian spice to start. This wine probably changed the most in the glass of all the wines. It was big and bold to start, but with lots of fruit remaining. Over time it became more evidently tannic and acidic and so less enjoyable. Given vintage characteristics, it isn’t surprising to realize the 1976 DRC RSV will greatly outlive the 1986.

Romanee St. Vivant Dinner at Sepia (Chicago IL): Ruby red color with dark red fruit on the nose with baking spice. A slight vegetal component as well (cooked cabbage, asparagus), but in a good way. Very high acidity on the palate with a moderate finish. The '76 DRC RSV blew this one away; I would drink this one sooner rather than later.

008625/13776. Light and simple, a bit on the downhill with more secondary than fruity character (especially for RSV). DRC nose. 91?

Labor Day Burgundy Insanity at Paulee du Hersh 9/1-2/18 (Denver, CO): Amazing wine for the vintage. Balanced with a long finish.

Friday after Thanksgiving (Palm Beach, FL): A bit muddy, but still some nice darker fruits. Rougher palate, and certainly ready. Top heavy.

Simple. Developed a small amount with air, but unimpressive.
