Seductive, perfumed nose; quite intense and yet fresh, with floral accents and the typical leather and stable notes of classic Bordeaux. Surprisingly powerful and generous on the palate, not even a bit tired, but lively and in perfect shape, with sexy sweet red fruit, good acidity and tannin structure and an exceptionally long, sweet finish. An excellent Louviere in perfect drinking maturity. Far above expectations. Drink now.

From Jeroboam (60E in Chablis on 6/18, FWIW): What fun to open the bottle and see the wine is exactly what it should be: classic old Bdx flavors, fruit still alive... what more do you want? The group chugged it right down...

Deep purple color with a bit of bricking around the rim. Sweet purple fruits on the nose with some bell pepper. The fruit is still fresh, though as another taster noted, a musty wood/cardboard note is present which significantly detracts from the enjoyment. The tannins are integrated and the acidity keeps things lively. This would be lovely but for that musty wood. Probably lightly corked.

The last time I reviewed this wine in a 1/2 bottle from this case eighteen months ago, I wrote, "While I lauded that there was life left in the earlier bottle tasting note, tonight, the dark berry fruits are definitely giving way to non-fruit earth, leather, creosote and musty wood notes.
Dark ruby color with a brownish tinge starting to set in. Medium bodied, leathery and smoky creosote tones predominate over the black cherry and black berry fruits, accented by cedar and tangy and slightly tart cinnamon spice that gives way to a big full floral note that fills the mouth and lingers for minutes with the tongue coating moderate tannins."
That deterioration of this wine approaching the end of its drinking window continues as the fruit continues to fall off and non-fruit tones encroaching. It should be noted that wine ages less gracefully in smaller format bottles. I need to keep this in mind and not wait so long between bottles, and need to consume these remaining soon.

Decanted one hour. Slightly green with scant plum fruit and roasted coffee notes, but overall lacking the character and flavor of a bottle tasted early last year. Drink up.

Dark red. Nutty, herbal and coffee nose, lots of dark fruit as well. The flavours are nice but not as rich as the nose. A very nice wine with a slightly bitter finish.

Bill's Monthly Lunch - January 2012 (Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind – medium to dark red. This jumped from the glass with notes of bell pepper, coffee and dark red fruits…profile here reminded me of a cab franc. Lighter in the mouth but still showing some tannin and really good acidity. Tastes like mature Bordeaux with a good dose on cab franc thrown in. I liked this quite a bit. Fully mature and time to drink. Very good.

garnet. Nose was a watered down version of a standard Bordeaux. Tobacco, cedar, seasoned salt. Taste was similar with an acid finish. Overall drinkable, but not great

Very dense, deep garnet to brick color. About an hour of air let some rough edges fade away to reveal a decent wine. Mature yet fresh, showing mineral and dark fruits, with some structure remaining. Very short. This could hold for several more years, and may even improve a bit.

Modest nose. Dark, medium bodied, firm blackberry, black currant fruits, earthy leather and a hint of cedar and smoke. More pronounced fruit than recent tasting . Tasted from 375 ml.

Medium color, weak nose of earth, mint, cocoa. Still some harsh tannins, alcohol dominating, a little tobacco. A couple hours in the glass started to coax out some muted raspberry and chocolate, but the tannins and alcohol still were overpowering. Try again in a couple years, but this may not get much better.

Wow, still has it - mellow fruit, great balance. VERY easy to drink, but you've got to let it breathe for three hours or so to get there...

Needed about 2 hrs plus to breathe after bing decanted. Turned out well though. Need to drink up. Pair with beef spiced in the classical style.
