As of September of 2021, this bottle is dominated by sour cherry. Personally, I don't expect that from Mourvedre, especially not from Enz. There's an interesting earthy funk to it, which normally I love but it just didn't hit on this one. Maybe it'd come into its own in a few years and I opened it too early. Relatedly, I am currently tasting Outer Limits, the same grapes hung a bit longer. It is fantastic.

Every bottle of Dirty & Rowdy tells a story. This one is all about savory. It starts with sour cherry and brown tobacco aromas, then the palate is an endless stream of salty, earthy, savory goodness. The longer it sits the stronger the savory core gets. There’s excellent structure, so I am likely to age a bottle of two for a while, as this could become a really special bottle of wine.

pours really dark. Still pretty tight and unyielding up front, but get some of those classic Hardy sour cherry notes on the back of the tongue. I think this wine may just need more time at this point, next bottle in two years or so.

Best on day 3. Tannins more prominent than your average D&R. Takes a couple of days for the wine to be more friendly on the cheek linings. It suffered a bit from comparison side by side with the MSG of the same vintage, which is much brighter, candied, and more sweet and somehow also more tart. This one was better with food. I’d give this one some cellar time before trying again, and in the meantime drink the MSG, Barbera, and Zin (not to mention the Especial and Familiar of course).

Young, but not inaccessible. Classic D+R tartness and "crunchiness", with cranberry and raspberry fruit. Juicy, mouth filling and bright. A joy to drink.

Friendly reminder - give these air! Lots of air! Night 1 was shy, Night 2 is singing opera from on top of the bar!

Violets, white pepper, cranberry, higher acidity.
Aerated into a magnum decantor and consumed. Delicious.
