Medium-bodied, with dark fruit — just enough, not overbearing — but with great savory structure. Enjoyed with ribs, chicken and steak and barbecue sauce and jalapeño cheddar sourdough.

Deep clear ruby. Ripe, almost roasted, savory aromas with a hint of creme de cacao. Supple dark berry flavors, balanced acidity without too much heat at cellar temp. This is really quite a lovely example. Delicious now, but these have gained complexity with time as well.

The color is burgundy red and clear around the rim. It is a little hot on the nose with floral perfume, rosemary, cedar, red and blue fruits, new leather. It's acidic, medium-bodied and fruit forward.

Brambly nose with ripe black fruit and wood spice.
Ripe red fruit, spicy oak and a herbal aspect on the palate. Brambly sous bois. An undertone of astringency. Grainy tannin and good acidity
Long brambly finish. Some heat. This bottle has an astringency I didn't notice in my previous one. Very "animalistic", too, but I think that's just the Mourvedre. Too young?

A nice wine that is growing nicer as the bottle is open.
Initially quite fruity and primary, by day two this has an exotic nose of oak spice, forest floor and perfumed fruit.
Palate gives the impression of sweetness with bright red fruit. Brambly forest floor and vanillan oak accent. Medium bodied, the tannic profile is medium, fine and grippy and the acidity is medium. Alcohol is not noticable.
Medium finish with creeping heat, bramble and red fruit.

Opened for 2.5 hours. Color is dark ruby. On the nose: Cassis, raspberry, cherry and some vanilla. On the palate: Raspberry and tart cherry. Very soft , elegant and refined. Comes across more as Pinot Noir than Mataro. It’s interesting and worth trying. This is a food wine.

I came to this with just Bandol as a reference and this is lighter and fresher and more direct but still rich and driven by blackberry, red fruit, leather, and garrigue.

Popped open and this felt like it was ready to go. Gave it a short 15 minute decant before tasting.
Leather, flowers, cocoa, herbs, and dark red fruit on the nose. Medium-light bodied, pinot like acidity, and overall lighter than what I was expecting. Palate of dark cherries, raspberries, and a hint of strawberries, supported by flower petals and a hint of leather. A hint of fig develops on the palate as it gets more air. Light smooth tannins bring in a bit of limestone. Long delicate finish of cocoa, tea, American oak spices, fig, tart raspberry, and just a bit of black pepper. There is a decent amount of alcohol warmth present.
The whole package reminds me of some of the full and darker fruited RRV PNs I’ve had. I suspect this will get better with age.

Really digging this… blueberries, dark fruit, cedar. Would have guessed it’s French

Lots of berry fruit in this one, including raspberry, cherry, blueberry, even a touch of vanilla. Body is on the light side.
