Friday Wine Group - JL (Blind Lunch): Tasted blind - nose of pineapple. Very strong pineapple. Fruit forward flavors, and perfectly balanced sweetness. I called a late harvest viognier, as it reminded me of the Matthiason late harvest. This wine is composed of 25+% viognier, so close enough. Paired excellent with pineapple upside down cake.

A wonderful and not too sweet / too sticky after dinner dessert wine blended from sauvignon blanc, semillon & viognier. At the CT average price not an unreasonable but not great QPR. Stylistically similar to a lighter sauterne or royal tokaji. Golden yellow, very well balanced, just the right degree of sweetness, and an incredible lingering aftertaste. Warm pear, ripe peach and a hint of honeysuckle on the nose with honey, definitely the creme brulee with associated burnt sugar noted on previous tasting notes and it became a bit more spicy with cooking spices and an almost Cointreau-like orange / orange liquer note. Hard to judge the ageability but certainly nothing here to suggest a short-term demise - would guess at least a good 3-5 years of shelf life left with proper cellaring. ABV 14.9%. Highly recommend this wine.

This bottle was brought to a WL off-line. A beautiful deep yellow almost orange color. A perfect balance on the palate of ripe summer peaches, orange zest, black tea, and a long finish.

This was a great dessert wine. Smells like creme brulee. Also we have some Sugar Daddy candy on the nose. This was a real crowd pleaser and much more enjoyable than the previous bottle I had of this wine which was not that memorable.

I find this really interesting. wife says creme brûlée and I agree - honey, caramel, burnt sugar on top : - ) just like creme brulee but not overly sweet but close. We enjoy Kracher wines very much and this compares well to Krachers elegance with a bit more sugar and not as much apricot relative to their trockenbeerenauslese. A really nice find.

Very tasty. Just a touch of botrytis on the palate with aromas of honey, honeydew melon, and flavours of tropical fruits. Not particularly distinctive as a dessert wine, but well made, well balanced (although it could stand to have more acid), and a delicious bottle to drink.

The nose was honeysuckle with tropical fruit and then you take that first taste and it gets all of your senses going. It's the flavor of grilled pineapple with brown sugar peaches and a nice long finish of honey. I would agree that it could use a touch more acidity which keeps it from that 96 point range, however it is simply delicious if your in the mood for something sweet. Fabulous dessert wine!

nv, but uncertain of the release date on this bottle. a better showing than when i had a bottle a few years ago, but it could hardly be worse than that. a very average wine all things considered.

80 Semillon/20 S. Blanc. Delicious, with a 30 second finish. This wasn't a heavy wine. My comment: Oh man! Drank this at a WineBerserker dinner in July in SoCal.

Granted this is three years later, but Nowak and Stoddard are still right on. The wine is very sweet and pleasant but lacks the acidity to make it truly special. As the name implies, honey and dried fruit predominate, but it lacks the "snap" to elevate the wine to a higher level.

a nice finish to the evening. honey dipped straw on the nose. a little yeast. good mouthfeel. feels like a little bottle age might make it better. well worth the $35 i paid on winebid.

Roy's with EWG (Roy's, Pasadena, CA): Heavy sweet nose of honey and baked apricots. Weighty but not heavy with plenty of sugar though doesn't seem like too much. Sauternes like nose, Loire like palate.

Golden yellow color. Lemon and lime nose. Tastes of pear, apple, lemon and honey. Rich, alcoholic finish. Could definitely use more acidity. 12.9% alcohol. 80% Semillion and 20% Sauvignon Blanc.

This is my 4th or 5th time with this wine. While it has been delicious every time I have had it (I've posted some previous notes), tonight's bottle is simply otherwordly. The nose is filled with butter, marzipan, tons of beeswax and banana. In the mouth, one finds honey, nougat, lemon, pear and zingy acidity. It's completely lush and mouthfilling yet the acidity keeps it alive and in wonderful balance. Parker and I must have had completely different bottles. This shit rocks. 97-99 points

Totoraku Night (Totoraku): Very nice. Light and sweet -- not too sticky. Perfect with a lighter, fruit or cheese-based dessert course.

We Were Dreaming of a White Wine Xmas Dinner (The Plumed Horse Restaurant, Saratoga, California): Light orange color with orange lights and 1 millimeter clear meniscus; intense, ripe orange, cantaloupe, tangerine nose; silky textured, rich, juicy, tangerine honey, papaya palate; long finish (80% Semillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc; one of the best Cali sweet wines I've tasted)
