Scents of green & red pepper with fresh blue ink, meat tenderizer. Deep purple. Lush blackberry & unripe blueberry with dusty cocoa & milk duds, medium tannins on long finish. Outstanding QPR. Drinking much better on 2nd night. Suggest laying down for 3+ years for optimum drinking.

My first bottle of this entry level wine from Hourglass. Picked up for around $43 from a local merchant. Pnp'd for family last night. Enjoyed with grilled steaks, brauts, etc.
Dark in the glass with a bit of a reserved nose to start out. The palate is pretty pedestrian with simple dark red/black fruit, maybe an 88-89. However, with 2-3 hours of air, this one deepens, sweetens, gains some complexity and is quite enjoyable for an entry level wine. A solid 91+ on its way to a 92. Well worth the price point, just make sure to give it a couple hours of air to spread its wings.
Drank from the winelist at Morten's Steakhouse in Naperville. Consistent with earlier recent tasting, ideal pairing with grilled filet of beef. Bright garnet colored with hues of purple, medium full bodied, elegant, polished, full round forward, nicely integrated briary blackberry and ripe plum fruits with notes of mocha dark chocolate, clove spice, hints of vanilla, and delicate floral, with a balanced long finish combining slightly chalky tannins. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2023/01/mortons-restaurant-week-special-with.html

Coravined at wine shop in Naples (FL). Lots of syrupy fruit. It’s certainly an easy drinker. Good cellar defender. Has some good weight, acid, and tannins. Good buy if you can find it for $45. Likely a touch better if decanted for an hour (and really needs another year).
Pop and pour at Dels Grille. One of the better renditions of HGIII, bowl of the stems are a bit narrower than standard and dont release much fo a bouquet. Can discern the merlot and Petite components which provide a breadth of flavor, but not much depth or weight.
There might be some ability to age this, but it's a solid $45-50 bottle with a very reasonable markup here. I'll pick up a few retail as I've always like Hourglass abs want to support their rebuild.

Agree with others dominant red fruits. Needed 20 Minutes of air to open. Had at Gallaghers NYC with a filet. Good QPR even considering the standard markup. While a year or two could take some of the heat off it doesn’t t have the stuffing for long term enjoyment. 2023-2025.

Strong aromatics at the start with red fruits dominating the profile. In mouth the wine is light to medium bodied and certainly less than I had expected again. The in mouth flavors are fresh and very present. I get the mixed fruits as this is a blend. In my opinion this wine is discombobulated.

A very tasty blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Syrah from Tony Biagi at Hourglass. Flint, spice and black cherry on the nose. Full bodied with tangy plum, blackberry, and cassis on the palate wrapped with nice tannins in the background. Extremently long finish with layers of flavor. My 2019 was young. Would like to try some with a little bottle-aging.

Needs some time, quite oak driven at first but after being open for a day the balance between the fruit and oak is much better. Very nice.
