Okay dominated Chardonnay. Fruit flavours are there, a bit of peach lots of oaky notes of butter and subtle vanilla. Finish is actually medium though predominately oaky, plus the alcohol comes through in the finish too, however, it does last for a decent time!! Fans of oaky and buttery Chardonnays can try that one for sure, just don’t expect any intense fruit flavours

9 m rijping op Franse eik (30% nieuw) 13,5% Alc. Oog: Kristalhelder, vol, citroengeel, grote viscositeit, veel langzame vette tranen.

I opened this and liked it on day 1, it tasted quite refreshing, young, underripe tropical fruits but in a good way. But I loved it on day 2. On day 2 the fruit seemed riper, and the oak was more toward vanilla than cedar. Would definitely buy again and recommend letting it breathe for a while to get those riper notes

Vintage after vintage this is one of my go-to value Chardonnays and the 2019 appears to be the finest in recent years. As usual the nose combines beautiful freshness and stone fruit definition along with nicely restrained oak, creme patissiere and fresh pastry. The palate has sumptuous texture and concentration along with brisk acidity and a tightly knit finish that makes the mouth water. This never feels stretched or overdone. Great value. Drinking superbly now, why wait? Considering the size of their portfolio and the quality they seem to bring year in year out, there's no question that Catena Zapata is one of the world's greatest producers.
