  • Drank through the evening, was starting to shine two hours into decant. This is a really nicely complex wine. Good amount of oak, mixed with a combo of red and black fruits. Leather and pepper too, with a graphite finish that’s quite long.

  • I gave this 4-5 hours decant, per recent reviews. Still, this was expectedly young. Air unwinds the tannins, but you sense the depth is tightly coiled and only age will unwind it.

  • Just wow. Wine is accessible now, tannins are soft and well integrated already. Needed 4 hrs of air to really come to life but then it was stellar. Dark red fruits, leather and even some pepper. Cannot wait to see how this evolves. 3-5 minute finish. Just delicious.

  • Small US new arrivals tasting hosted by a merchant. Mixed berries with more red and blue than dark fruit, cherry and red currant specifically. Ripe but not over-extracted. Everything‘s there you could whish for: chocolate, herbal and spicy layers, sweet notes, seasoning, graphite – at first all held back with the hand brakes on when freshly poured, but exploding into ever changing versatility. Palate is young and fresh with great tension and a spicy finish. Velvety texture and weightless. Aromatically the palate also adds a floral perfume touch. Excellent.

  • Drinkable with 4+ hours air (even better after 24 hour slow-ox at 58), will be singing in 2-3. Gorgeous, impeccably made wine.

  • Deep, dark, reddish-purple garnet in color; almost opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe deep, dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & cassis with overtones of floral & earthy/dusty notes, mint, spices, herbs, minerals, dark cocoa, anise, coffee, iron/graphite, some cedar & a hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full to full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, plush & rich, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, dark cocoa, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but needs time as it will continue to develop further with additional aging.

  • Deep purple color.
lots of mineral to the nose, more of a Bordeaux style new to 05/06/13/14, with lots of iron expressed on the palate.
Excellent wine. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. 90% Champoux, 10% Mach One.

three (four) sites for Quilceda Creek:
    Champoux - cool (HHH)
Palengat - (HHH) - seems like it's not used in the CAB any longer based on the website, adjacent to their Champoux holdings.
    Galitzin - Warm (Red Mountain)
Mach One - Warmest (HHH right above the Columbia River)

20m new French (D'Arnageau? and Taransault)

  • No issues. Great from start to finish. About as good as it gets i think. Not sure how it could get any better.
