  • Strong performance! Dark cherry, blackberry, and earthy notes emerge from the glass on the nose, followed by a soft, well balanced attack on the palate, adding smoky flavors of roasted game on the finish. It gained weight and depth with 2-3 hours of air. Great QPR, we'll be getting several more to drink and stash away. 92+

  • Finally cracked one. Solid if unspectacular CC. Not suremit justifies the price. A little sleek for Sangiovese but bright and open. Typical cherry and herbal notes. Will be interesting to follow the other bottles starting a year from now.

  • A bit on the young side, but after opened and warmed up for an hour it developed more depth and was quite good with pasta Bolognese. Dark cherry and a lot of oak. Medium bodied, medium high acid, and some grippy tannins. Guessing it will be best in 2-3 more years.

  • Youthful, fruit-forward, yet a joy to drink now. Soft cherry and cranberry on the palate. Even better on day two.

  • Dark and powerful and earthy. Salty and mineral on the palate, lots of depth and gumption there. Just opened, monumental and magnificent.

  • It’s shocking how good this was. Right away you can sense there is a bit more to this than your normale Chianti Classico. The 85% Sangiovese comes through nicely as it Carrie’s some welcome weight from the cab sauv. Was really impressed with this on the two times I tasted it. I liked it so much at the winery that I chose to drink this again over a 2018 Sammarco at dinner that same evening.

  • Farven mørk og tæt med et lille violet skær. Pæn dybde. Klar men ikke brillant. Duften meget åben og oser af frugt. Kan godt fornemme at det ikke er ren Sangiovese. Synes at kunne fornemme Cabernet. Mørk i frugten med tydelige urter og bitterhed. Har mandel. Smagen fylder flot med tydelig syre og blød tannin på tænderne..God frugt. Mellemstor koncentration. God lang eftersmag. Dejlig vin. Køb igen

  • Enjoyed a glass at an Italian wine tasting. My personal favorite Chianti Classico to date. Extremely smooth. Strong cherry aromas with hints of leather. Overall a great enjoyable bottle and I was glad to have a taste. Will be adding to my cellar soon.

  • really nice aromas of damp soil, blackberry, oak, rose. Medium- body, garnet color slightly translucent, medium alcohol. Menthol, bark, fresh blackberry on the palate, ample acidity and soft to medium to tannin. Good structure, acidity is perhaps a bit overbearing. This is very young, drinks nice now but could use several more years in the cellar.

  • Again, can't believe that that is only 5% Merlot, but also don't care. Mint, and touch of menthol, and then dark fruit and powerful. And lots of intense dark structure there as well. Really structure.

  • This vintage of this wine seems to have created quite contrasting notes on this site. I wonder if two things are not being fully considered in some of the reviews. Firstly, it is a Chianti Classico, with all that implies and it is neither more, nor less than that. Secondly, the vintage was a warm one that has produced wonderful full-bodied wines with ripe tannins but slightly lower acid levels than usual.

The colour has impressive depth and there is little fading as one tilts the glass - it looks like it will be a substantial wine.

The nose and palate follow through on the colour. This is full bodied by Classico standards. The tannins are drying, plentiful but ripe. If one wants to use the microscope, then the tannins might be considered a little on the blocky side, rather than fine, but I don't find them intrusive given the price, the fact this is a young Classico and the weight of fruit.

The nose and palate deliver true Classico characters of dried herbs, some cedar and cherry with a little tar and perfume. The acid is a little on the low side, though I don't find the wine lacking in balance. If I had a real criticism, it would be that there isn't quite the palate definition I would like in an ideal world and the wine perhaps falls into a difficult mid-spot between being an out and out bargain, or a truly outstanding wine. That said, I think it compares very favourably with similarly priced Tuscans of this year. I slightly prefer the extra cut and definition of the Fuligni and Canalicchio di Sopra Rossos (and I appreciate they are not Chainti but Brunello), for example but I would be very happy to drink this. I think it is more drinkable at this time than the otherwise very good Classico from Fontodi, the standard from Isole e Olena, or the 2nd wine from Ornellaia.

As to whether it would compare well with wines several times its price as one reviewer says, I have to demur. The Fontodi Vigna del Sorbo, or the Isole e Olena Cepparello from this year are clearly far superior wines - they have more complexity, more depth, more intensity and a little more acid. The tannins are finer, even in the Cepparello, which with its fairly lavish oak treatment, is rarely that fine in the tannin profile. But this does not detract from the qualities of this wine. It is what it is and it is very good value and very good fun.

  • Medium ruby red in color. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, plums & strawberries with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes of violets, spices, minerals, herbs & a hint of cedar. Medium bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe, fruit flavors of sour red cherries, plums & strawberries with herbs, spices & minerals. Lingering finish. Quite accessible at present with decanting & extended airing but has the structure & fruit to continue with further development with additional aging.

  • Ok wine. Overrated compared to review. Slight tobacco taste. Do not buy again

  • Too modern and extracted for our palates and with an acidity towards the lower regions.

May start blooming some four to seven years from now.

One btl left for the medium haul.

  • A gorgeous nose of fresh cherry, violets, smoked meats and cedar. It is fleshy Chianti, with good depth and ample structure. Tannins are perfectly ripe but there is still adequate chew and length is impressive.

  • Some meat and ferrous notes along with black cherry and licorice. It has good depth and plenty of savoury nuance. There's flesh with underlying grip and a finish that is chewy and long. Plenty of flavour here.
