  • Roagna Barbaresco Tasting (Gemma): Lots going on here, heady aromas, rose back with some savory notes, med body, silky tannins with touch of VA. My favorite amongst the VV for the drinking pleasure it offers now.

  • 67PM dinner: The best wine of the lot. My first Roagna and I wanted to be disappointed by this, but it really showed what a great producer and vintage can achieve. Remarkably silky tannins with great verve and power, very pure raspberry and cherry fruit. Didn’t want the lingering finish to end.

  • Unmistakably Asili with its velvety, utterly fragrant and intense presence, both on the nose and palate. Breadth and width open up the bouquet immediately with strawberry, rose petal, pressed flowers of all colors, cinnamon & other brown spices and light mint. Even a tad creamy. Overall super silky texture and mouthfeel. Fine tannins can be found in the background as part of the high structure. The young appeal of the Asili is immense, it might be hard not to open a bottle at any given moment, whoever is lucky enough to possess some.

  • This is pure silk, fragrance and alluring grace. The Asili is always quite easy to discover within Roagna’s wines with its trademark super silken and intense aromas. The 2016 shows raspberry & strawberry, rose petals, pressed flowers, hints of Christmas spices and lingering sweet ethereal scents. The tannin is refined, it seems almost invisible. This is a dancer, elegant, lissome and with a huge endurance. All of that is also expressed in the intense, tender aftertaste. Made from a tiny 0.22ha parcel in the core and historical part of the Asili MGA.
