So, so much oak. Overwhelming. That, combined with a monochromatic ripeness leaves this unidentifiable as Brunello. These are the wages of international-style, Parkerized shenanigans.

nose - wood, mushroom, mildly funky, eraser, heavy tannins, dark dried fruits and berries; taste - tiny bit hot on finish, chewy fruit with some tobacco and tar

our last bottle of this, and really enjoyed it. fully mature at this point, with a lovely plum color slightly browning around the edges. nose was soft but driving with smoke and fruit. on the palate, this was still rich and yet soft/elegant in the mouth. very well enjoyed.

The 2004 Brunello was a revelation and one of my major discoveries. The wines are éxtremely fairly priced and fantastic values ! The 2004 Brunello is all about balance and harmony. The wine has good Sangiovese aromatics. The tannins are velvety with a wunderfull precise fruit. Also there is a nice touch of toastek oak. The finish is warm and looong. At ~ 25 Euro this is a screaming deal (93+).

Wow. Highly recommended! Paired well with baked ziti (with spicy sausage).

Deep, structured, long. Delivers all the way. Still a little tannic - can be stored 5 more years without fading -- even become more intergrated.

Tour of Tuscany Presented by Maurizio Farrio, Cantiniere Imports (Chain Bridge Cellars, McLean, VA): tinge of orange around a red/purple color in the glass. a little funk when first in the glass, which blew off in a minute or two. floral nose. classic brunello richness and layers. Floral and elegant but with plenty of structure. superb. And a rare treat - - only 400 cases produced.
