This pours light ruby in the glass. The nose is expressive and appealing with modest complexity. The predominantly fruit driven aromas show red cherry, pomegranite, grapefruit, peonies, pine needles, and a touch of new leather. The palate is light and elegant entering on the tart red fruit. The mid-palate shows medium minus tannin and medium plus acid with a touch fo grapefruit pith. The finish isn't terribly long but is appealing with tart grapefruit and cranberry closing things out. All in all this is a significantly better showing then when tasted a couple of years back. Seems a couple of years of age and lessened the reduction despite the screwcap. This is a tidy little wine that I find quite appealing.

Very funky bouquet, like a combination of mushrooms and blood. Bouquet was much fruitier the second day, with pronounced intense cherry. Dark fruit flavors, good acidity, mild tannins. Very different from any other Pinot I've had. Really good stuff!

The aroma is that of mushrooms in moldy earth. card the earthy tones of the wine have also a very strong fruit forward component. It tastes of sour cherry, mushroom.

Retail $35. Under screw cap. Quite light in the glass with a dirty black cherry nose. The palate is far fruitier, but by no means "fruity, than the nose did portend, along with some earth and minerality. Upon first sip, I was not a fan but it grew on me. I have been jaded by the opulence of Cali PN: this is quite lovely.
Popped and wrote this note 15 minutes after. Aromas of matchstick, funk, cranberry and earth. Very Burgundian nose. Flavors of cranberry, cherry, earth, mushroom and hint of strawberry. Ends with a 20-25 second finish with cherry and earth notes. Probably needs more air and will update it it improves but certainly an interesting wine.

An elegant PN from classic region of NZ, Central Otago. Lighter bodied, supple med tannins with lots of dark/black fruits and pomengranate along with bramble and black tea notes. Tertiary notes of mushroom, leather, smoke and tobacco.

This pours light light ruby in the glass with some pink at the rim. The nose is aromatic and rich showing raspberry coulis, raspberry bush leaf, blueberry, mulberry, blackberry, and significant rubber/plastic reduction. The complexity here is low and the fruit quite brash. the palate is features a very berry-centric profile with medium minus tannin and medium acid. Texturally this is quite like chewing on seedy berries raspberry, blackberry, with a bitter green note balanced against the tart but pungent fruit. A decently well made wine but not something I'm all that drawn to.

Smoky, rooty, nettle, pepper, and tomato nose. Medium-bodied, balanced to fresh palate with distinct replays, ripe tannins and a tart acid finish. 3.5/5

Highly aromatic on the nose with lovely dark black cherry, dark currant, black raspberry, tea leaf, wet earth, and spice aromas. On the medium to medium-full bodied palate it has very nice, smoky mineral aroma replays to go along with balanced acidity. Fine tannins are smooth and subtly chalky. Excellent length on the finish. Score: 91+ pts

Pretty funky when first opened, but that blows off with time. Very nice, would buy again. Very good RQP.
