  • Loved this but kicking myself for not making any notes. It was excellent and intense and still too young.

  • JD gave this a perfect score and I can see why.

White pepper, raspberry, iron, sandalwood just leap from the glass. Red and blue fruit on the palette, super fine well integrated tannins. Cured meats, insanely long finish. It’s shocking that that there is no heat with the alcohol content.

Drink it now with some air or hold it for 5-10 years.

  • The best Andremily that I have ever tasted. Raspberry concentrate.

  • This was quite nice, with flavors of kirsch liqueur, black cherry, luxardo, and milk chocolate. It was plush and polished, highly concentrated without any stiffness and the alcohol is concealed. Served at our family Christmas dinner and this was well liked/appreciated.

  • All oak and fruit that tastes like it was grown on the surface of the sun.

  • 5/5 - deep ruby purple
14/15 - wonderful aromas of red fruit, a lot of various oak spice and vanilla, some garrigue
18/20 - this is where this wine shines. So well put together. Balance, harmony and no heat on this 15.6% beast! Fruit and oak notes prominent and our group all agreed this has a toasted marshmallow flavor that hits right in the middle of your palate. Spot on.
9/10 - overall a fantastic wine and feels like a good QPR at release pricing. 96+

  • Dark as night with nice spice and blackberry cola with a touch of vanilla.

  • Andremily magic! An intense, sweet Californian bouquet makes you believe that this will be a sweet, unctuous mess. But you get a light and airy, highly elegant and singular wine with lots of freshness. For sure not one for purists.

TN: Intense sweet black and dark red fruit, sugary notes, herbs and some spices on the nose. Screams California, a bit too sweet at first. On the palate the wine is much more balanced right from the go: the sweet but still fresh and bright dark red and dark berries, the hints of chocolate are compensated by a strong herbal, minty, spicy component and lots of minerality. Highly complex, perfect aromatic precision. In addition, there is a superb freshness and the wine is light and airy with no excess richness and no weight. The tannins couldn’t be finer and the wine has lots of tension and ends in a long and expanding finish. Complete and with a remarkable balance.

    Decanting: No extensive decanting necessary.

  • Cherries, rustic and yet elegant in the bouquet. On the palate a firm amount of sweetness and also a lot of fresh acidity, menthol, mild tannin and an enormous length. Beautiful and youthful wine.

  • Surprisingly light color and intensely aromatic. But on the palate is a different story. I’m normally a fan of big, fruit driven wines (central coast Rhones are among my favorite) but this is just cloyingly sweet on the finish and reminds me more of a Meiomi Pinot noir. Overall tough to drink. My first experience with Andremily

  • This was the first one of these enjoyed. And, I will say that after this experience, the other two will be laid down for quite some time. This wine has sweet purple and black roasted fruits. And by sweet, I mean really quite a lot of crazy sweet youthful fruit. I just don't know how anybody is really rating this 96+ at this moment, because all I get is sweet fruit. And there is a lot of toasted tannin on the finish. To me this wine is quite a bit out of balance right now. I really don't think that it can properly be rated at the moment. This is such a big massive wine that is going to be absolutely ridiculous in 5 to 7 years. Due to the sweet bomb thah this one was, it really didn't do well with steak, potatoes or mushrooms but actually paired insanely well with homemade cinnamon gingerbread cookies with homemade pumpkin spice frosting. If you have these, and like the crazy sweet bomb side of things, then have at it. Otherwise, hold!!

  • Deep ruby. Powerful nose of blackberry, cherry and black pepper. Tons of fruit. Great balance. Long finish. Full bodied. Just an enjoyable bottle of wine. Great now with a little air.

  • Way too young, but what a joy already to drink now.

  • No note, great stuff as usual.

  • A bit pricey, but, very well done and quite tasty. A decant or consumption over a few days (which we did) allows it to develop very nicely.

  • Recently I did a vertical tasting of Andremily Mourvedre 2016-19. I did not expect 2019 Mourvedre to be ready to drink so well within 3 months upon release as my experience all other Andremily (with the exception of its Grenache) could benefit from 6+ month of bottle aging and from bottle evolution peaking in a few more years (such as 2017 EABA). The only word to sum it up is SEAMLESS. The only problem right now it's so delicious that we (3 guys) finished drinking it in less than half an hour! Sorry we didn't really give it a chance to show off its full monty, strut and swagger, evolving complexity. But I will come back to it every 6 months with plenty in cellar :) Normally I don't review or write up notes on red wines until after 2-3 years of following through the wine but this one (2019) is quite special for me to break my norm.

I had tasted 2019 Mourvedre components from their barrels just before bottling last year; and I thought it's amazingly great and the 2019 vintage is a fantastic 4 (GSME). I'm really glad and happy for Jim that his wines have come up beautifully now in bottles.

First sip reminded me of those perfect scored wines from 2019 vintage (Saxum G2, TR G2, Tensley Noir) which all have that incredible "weightless" profile but they all still need time to gain more "body" and richer aroma (for now they are 97-100 range on my scale). Jim's winemaking skill in extracting pure fruit essence seamlessly into a full-body aromatic elixir has taken it to another heavenly level; this reminded my first experience drinking 100-rated 2010 Dominus (its first ever perfect score by RP). At times, I find myself at odd philosophically that "imperfection is perfection." Yes, I do like some imperfections (or near symmetry but not perfect symmetry) to be interesting.

The bouquet from the first pour brought joyful faces of my friends, which I had recommended to drink this unicorn last after meal to enjoy its pure enjoyment (drink along with 2018 Grenache pairing with the last course). The signature of Jim's finest mourvedre uplifting aromatics coupled with rich dark cocoa notes, dark cherry notes and some provencal herbs. Sensational - reminded me the experience drinking its 2018 Grenache at its pre-release.

For those who find 2017 style too big big and rich (and intense), then you will love the 2019 vintage (a finesse redux/feminine of 2017 version). For those looking for more structure than 2017, then 2018 with a touch of higher acidity which I think it'll evolve and challenging current perfect 2017 vintage. For more details on other top-rated mourvedre, see my notes from 2017 vintage.

Rating: 98-100; currently 98+ and won't be surprise to hit 99+ next 1-2 years from now.

  • Dark, brooding, rich and decadent. Quite stunning as a youngster. Wouldn't normally open something this young, but as my first vintage of purchasing the Mourvèdre, I wanted to check in on it. Wow. This has tremendous depth already. Excited to see how this will evolve.

  • Intense dark black and blue fruit profile, score is mainly on potential, although this was very enjoyable at this young stage as with most Andremily wines I’ve had they need a year to gain some weight. I would hold this for a year.
