Huge wine, such intensity it's ultimately overboard. The viscosity is at a level rarely achieved in Burgundy, and that I loved. However the intensity of flavor was so much it started to overlap with New World style. My gut tells me this will be quite special with another 10-15 years to resolve itself, clearly the material is there. In sum, this wine is excellent but somewhat controversial at this stage and given current pricing anything less than perfection winds up being a disappointment.

Kleur: Medium goudgeel. Aroma / bouquet: Vol, expressief en verleidelijk met zowel frisse (appel, peer, brioche) als rijpere (honing, gekookte kool (aangenaam / reductief)/ gebrande nootjes) aromatische kenmerken. Smaak / Afdronk: Mondvullend, dik-sappig. Een enorme retronasale smaakrijkdom. Mooie concentratie, prachtige balans. En wsat een lengte… Harmonie! Algemeen / potentieel: Bijzondere combinatie van fraicheur en rijpheid en een zeldzame combinatie van power en finesse. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 14 + Smaak / Afdronk: 18 + Algemeen / potentieel: 9 = 96/100
Colour: Medium golden yellow. Spectacular aroma of honey, no reduction here perfect balance. Super density and length. This is glorious, if a bit different than the style one may expect.

Nicely balanced richness with a high level of definition across the palate. Consumed over 1.5 hours and it was still going strong and improving at the end.

Very good bottle. Deep and rich reflecting the vintage and some bottle time, but in this bottle still consistently energetic and focused across the entirety of the palate. I still think this wine is entering or has entered its secondary phase, depending upon the bottle. But after two lower energy bottles, the last two have been more vigourous

Great nose. Pineapple and minerals. Full and round in the mouth. Echoing tinybubbles' previous note, this doesn't quite have the energy or tension you would hope for but it's delicious regardless.

Chez W, decanted 45 minutes, perfect cork and level - pale, leggy, youthful; complex, fresh bouquet, pears and white peach, light minerality, some chalk; medium, very long, concentrated and persistent, wonderful dimension and energy to fruit, nice acidic lift, young but harmonious, barely ready. VF+ (19).

Ripe yellow tropical fruit and background wood on the nose, both of which moderated considerably after 30 minutes of air time. Very full on the palate with a good dose of acid on the finish but lacked both the last degree of depth across the midpalate and last level of precision on the finish of the best versions of this wine. Better after an hour than upon opening. 94-95

Even better than the last time I tasted this stunner. There is an amazing purity of fruit that is only topped by the wines silky, voluptuous textures, density coupled with freshness and mineral qualities.

Coche Dury Meursault Perrieres 2005 - at Troisgros- a perfect match for rosettes of sashimi of Saint Pierre topped with Australian black truffle (the first time the restaurant has served these, normally they would not source from so far away but felt the quality to be superlative). All the Coche 2005s that I've had have all been hors classe, but this is possibly better than his Corton Charlemagne. Perhaps best to try side by side to confirm ! My favourite Coche vintage I think.

Initially tight but opened up beautifully in the glass. It was dense, full and rich with sappy orchard fruits trimmed with a light spice. There was a hint of vanilla and it finished with awesome minerally precision and was oh so long.

Big, rich, dense and packed with crushed stone, lemon peel, flowers, orange rind, pear and vanilla notes. Fresh, sweet and spicy, this concentrated, delicious wine ends with layers of ripe citrus, honey suckle and minerality. It's a beauty!

HDH auction tasting at Tru; 6/22/2012-6/23/2012 (Chicago, IL): It's not often you find your day completely changed by a glass of wine. This is one of those wines that will do it. Immensely complex but muted nose with some hints of coconut and macadamia. Evokes the BPO playing pianissimo at the ending of the third movement of Beethoven's Fifth -- this is the universe resounding in harmony, ready to explode into fireworks. What can be said about the flavour? It has the richness of Meursault balanced by a piercing arrow of peachy acidity, and a finish that goes on forever. It's somehow both rich and sweet and clean and mineral at the same time. I won't give this a 100 because I can't even begin to imagine what the Corton-Charlemagne would taste.

Huge smoky, sappy lift on the nose. This is a wine that is immense yet balanced. It is built like a very good red wine, with a huge amount of dry extract, power and muscle. Orchard fruits stain the palate then a torrent of minerals flay across the tongue leaving a trail of chalk dust. It has quite superb length of flavour and should live for decades.

Denser. Richer. Honey. Deep much riper. Amazing concentration. But more mature than expected.

Coche-Dury Lunch with a La Tâche Kicker, Then More Après Lunch Wines (Elements Restaurant at the Sanctuary - Paradise Valley, AZ): Enticing floral start with so much baking spice and ripe orchard fruit. Bold and powerful apple and pear flavors come across as so dense from start-to-middle, then softening on finish. At its peak now, this wine is better now vs the 2008 in the prior flight, but without quite the same potential. Perfect harmony. Wonderfully fresh vs almost any 2005 white Burgundy.
