if you like your white burg with heavily aged character then the rating would be higher, had at Harvest in Harvard Square, wine was darker than i would have expected and showed significant age with a toasty, smoky but also fruity nose, palate was close to borderline pre-mox'd with a nice balance of citrus, honeysuckle, hint of smoke, sweet richness -- marshmallow bordering on butterscotch, had just enough acid to hold it together but i'm guessing this bottle was better a year ago and would have been a goner if held another year longer

Very nice Meursault probably drinking near peak. Some good texture, and length with a very smooth profile. Minerals, citrus and cream. Neither has tons of energy nor complexity but very nice

Well, this is certainly the most expensive wine I've had for a long time; thank you Christmas, for giving me the excuse. It has a certain air of majesty about it. Light to medium gold in colour; subtle nose of toasted nuts and butterscotch; fairly full bodied, and very long: it processes slowly across the palate... Is it 'worth it'? Definitely not. Am I glad to have tried it, to find out first hand? Definitely yes. 13%. Cork.

Better than I remember. Decanted for 1 hour. Absolutely no signs of premox. Very fresh nose, but with nice underlying butter and wild flowers. The wood was nicely integrated and neutral, no toasted wood a la Coche Dury or Leflaive. Mouthfilling, typical Meursault fatness, good balance with a nice fresh acidity. Will last at least 4-5 years more, but probably not gain complexity.

Tart green apple, hay and citrus on the nose. The palate is very young and shows a tart and edgy profile that is uncommon for 06 whites, much more austere. Slightly tart and bitter elements on the longish finish. This is a win because it is not premoxed but not a hugely pleasurable wine.

At a tasting we compared Lafon Meursault 2005, 2006 and 2007. The 2005 was the most developed with a deep pungent nose of frash lime and acid on top and hay, butter and wet clay below. After 30 min the nose calmed down and came together. Typical 2005 with inner sweetness and good acidity, just like the red. The 2006 was greener and more sprawley on the nose with lesser acidity and freshness on the palate. The 2007 was the best wine at this time, with butter and wood on the nose, medium body and very fresh and prominent acidity. Quite lovely now!

A very big white wine, loads of fruit, oak upfront, some thot this is sauvignon blanc or something from southern France? Palate equally big, oily and with lots of wet stone, nuts at the end. This is not elegant and stylistically a bit new world, but suitable for those who enjoy their white wine big.

Another Evening of Lafon in Red and White (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Medium yellow. Pineapple and toasty wood that just dominates the palate. Round fruit but clearly overoaked. The more I went back to it, the more I wondered if the bottle was also slightly corked. At any rate, not very impressive.

Mid gold. Nose of honey, hazelnut, apple, butter and almonds. Medium bodied, soft and buttery and rich on the palate. Classy and deep.

The wine is developing nicely - excellent buttery aromas and a very pleasant and excellent wine. With 2-3 more ears it will be just great !
