Delicious. Rather light color. Mid weight, rather light tannin but this is Nebbiolo. Ras a nose rose and lavender lift with menthol notes. Wonderful balance and lengthy finish.

91-92 This was delicious and ready to go. Slow-o'd it 6 hours and no idea if that was right/wrong but it was great when drunk. Makes me think the '18 Monvigliero I had a couple weeks of ago - which I thought was shut down - was maybe an off bottle.

Decanted in the morning, consumed in the evening. Good concentration without being heavy, quite approachable despite the young age and slightly polished, modernist sheen. Sort of early drinking vintage. On the palate lovely rose petals, orange peel and black tea. Refreshing acidity and surprisingly civilized tannins, lengthy and attractive finish. A tasty entry level Barolo from an expensive top brass producer, I liked this quite a bit more than anticipated, most def. will improve with time though.

JG’s mainly Barolo 2018s (Terra Rossa, London N1): Open sensual nose evoking Chambolle Musigny. Strawberry and menthol notes. Lovely purity and quite a lot of earthy grip on the finish. Very good.

Translucid color, light red almost looks like a pinot noir. Immediate berries in the nose. Judging from smell alone right away, a burgundy. It develops spices with air. On the palate the tannins are felt. Inherent sweetness, the same berries, spices like mace and a very pleasant acidity. This wine obviously needs much more time in the bottle, the tannins need to integrate and the wine itself needs to develop complexity. But right now it is still in its early drinking window and it is a pleasure to savor, the 14.5 alcoholic degrees are never felt, the bottle was over before we realized. It may shut down at some point. A fine elegant wine crafted with balance in mind with a beautiful interplay of the small berries, the tannins a hint of earthiness and the fresh and gentle acidity. Plenty of supporting acidity ensure at least 10 years of good aging.

While not generally a fan of drinking young Barolo, we have a few of these and decided to check in on what is purportedly an early-drinking vintage. Decanted early morning, enjoyed 12 hours later out of Zalto burgundy stems. There was a very noticeable flowering just after the first glass, like peony blossom tea in a glass pot. Reticent aromas are the prelude to an elegant core of strawberry fruit & liqueur, gently buttressed by tannins. Rather lovely.
Pop and pour but better after 20 minutes in the glass.
Classic Burlotto style. Very approach/light and elegant. Not the most complex or intense wine, but nice and elegantly proportioned. Stays in the floral and dark berried realm.

Drinking really well upon open and drinking even better after two days as the tannins have softened. The most approachable young Barolo I can remember having.

This was lovely - not far off from the Acclivi at all. Concentrated, clean aromas of tar and cherry, wild strawberry with chewy, chalky tannins. Very nice wine.

Didn’t have time to decant and this bottle was a little less welcoming than the ones I have consumed over the last six months. Consumed over a long lunch it blossomed after an 90 minutes in the glass. I will be more deliberate decanting future bottles.
Bruce’s 69th Bday Dinner @ Cafe Spaghetti …. Along with 2018 Lafon Clos du Barre and 2020 Bereche Reserve. As with prior bottles this continues to be a crowd pleaser. Light berry filled Barolo, fine tannins, perfect balance and pleasing finish

A private dinner (Restaurant Ratanà, Milan, Italy): Barolo 2018. Delicate, elegant, firm but refined tannins, Negroni flavours, delicately nutty, long and flowing finish. Very accessible since youth, this bottle felt quite advanced already.

Dinner with the wine group (Zazie's, San Francisco): Pale ruby; aromatic, red fruited; clean, elegant, floral and red fruited, high acidity but balanced, high alcohol but balanced; medium finish. Lovely wine, expensive compared to its competitors but has a unique style. 91
2 of 14 Beautiful floral nose and bright ruby color to start. As with my first bottle of this last month I am astonished how beautiful and transparent this Barolo is. In some respects it is almost Burgundian weightless, balanced and pure. Clearly young and benefiting from two hours in a decanter, but as I said in my last TN this wine is just delicious.

Loved this. Easy drinking, light but structured, classic Burlotto signatures. If a retailer ever blew this out for <$50 I’d buy a case and drink it over the next 2-3 years. Maybe it will age well but the combination of approachability, freshness, red fruit, and spice makes it delicious now. I see no reason to wait long on this - for my preferences, I’m not sure it’ll get better. Next I’ll try side-by-side with the 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo as I’m curious to see how this stands up at twice the price. I see some similarities but the Barolo offers much more depth and a little more structure, as one would expect.

This wine opened beautifully yet showed itself as at the beginning of its life with a pale cherry red and a reticent nose of red cherries, raspberries, redcurrants and touches of rose and liquorice. The palate is initially quite linear with nicely intense red fruits and a touch of blood orange leading into a fine yet quite stern line of tannins that provide savoury grip that lingers nicely. There is a lovely lift and purity to the fruit that became apparent the following night when we pulled the cork ( having been Coravined the night before ) that suggests this wine may become quite special with time.

Beautiful ruby color, bright red berry fruit, remarkably approachable after only an hour in a decanter. The balance of its fresh red berry fruit Onassis its frame of easy tannins, minerality and acidity result in a weightlessness that makes this hard to put down.

This pours very light ruby in the glass with flecks of pink and orange. The nose on first pop is closed and lightly reduced. After 24 hours of air it becomes quite expressive showing a lovely elegant profile. The nose is of rose petals, cherry blasters candy, cherry scented marker, new leather, fresh rosemary, touches of rubbery tar, and nibs licorice. The palate enters on the bright, light and airy fruit, turning to well managed medium plus tannin and medium plus acid. There is great palate presence here and a long finish replaying the cherry and rose elements of the nose. Just a great wine that I'm excited to try again but will attempt to wait a solid 10 years.
Always a consistent bottle and great into into Burlotto Barolo. It has the same weightless and ruby transparency as the Cru’s but just a little less punch. Raspberry, mineral, rose and tar. Acidic and tannic but not too painful. Give it five years.
A very enjoyable, early drinking Barolo. Strawberries and dark cherries, lavender and roses, and a mixture of mint, stony minerality and licorice that I feel are typical of Burlotto perhaps it is Verduno. Perhaps a bit more like an excellent Langhe Nebbiolo than a great Barolo, but I really like it. A little bit expensive, my price was about 55 Euro and I think this competes more with 35-40 EUR Barolos.

Medium ruby colour. Red cherry, red fruit, rose water, iodine, rusty nail, a hint of cocoa, spice notes, and earth, with good acidity, round tannin, and very good length of the dry finish. Medium- to full-bodied, with a smooth, lightly creamy texture. Very earthy. Very well-balanced despite of its youth. Feminine, harmonious, and very Burgundian on day two.
The beautiful 2018 Burlotto Barolo is enjoyable upon opening, and shows best after four hours of aeration in a wide decanter. Drink now, and over the medium term.
