Color is raspberry, translucent with a clear meniscus. Nose is cigar box, graphite, some saddle leather, generous alcohol. Not too much fruit, strawberry, raspberry plum. Rich body with silky tannins, a good hit of acidity and a lingering finish. Real poise; another hit from Ridge.

If all zinfandels were made in a burgundian style this is the wine. Elegant, with an exceptional finish. Brambled berries, med. acid. color to rim with slight garnet. Mmm.

Outside of the famous Ridge blends this is my favorite thus far, soft, perfectly balanced, easy drinking. Feels like velvet going down and makes me want to keep opening new bottles

Med clear ruby Fresh berry aromas Moderate alcohol, but overall this comes off nicely restrained and absolutely lovely drinking right now for its fresh, clear fruit

Spearmint and black cherry on the nose with notes of bramble berries, toasted oak and Asian five spice. The winemaker notes fresh dill which I agree is also present on the nose and palate. Overall, a very nice zin, although a touch hot with alcohol on the finish.

I immediately noticed how light bodied this looked when poured. Its either a lighter vintage or they chose low extraction. The expression is also a bit dialed back in terms of how I've seen this vineyard in the previous few years. That means its drinking in a more balanced way today. Its not so fleshy and big. Somewhat lean bodied, yet with some glycerin feel, with good acids and tannin. The wood is more in the background but there. Decent complexity. A nice solid Zin in a classic way. I think the guess about the vintage being a lighter one is the best guess. I also think this is a wine I would drink over the shorter term. It will certainly last a decade but I think at its best in the next few.

Decanted for 90 minutes. Dark ruby-purple. A very fruity nose – cherries, raspberries, tropical bubblegum, a bit of oak/cedar, and a bit of a meaty/umami note. Medium-heavy bodied and very fruity. The palate is darker - blackberries, bramble, dark cherries, and a healthy dose of oak. Heavy but gritty tannins. Medium-short finish of cherries, bubblegum, cedar, and light American oak spices.
I feel like this takes the palate and profile of a Ridge zin and makes a hard left toward Beaujolais. While this ends up scoring the same as the 2018 vintage, I see a lot more upside to this vintage.

"pale shadow of the 2018" says Erik. Still excellent, but more subdued. Gentle fruit, gentle tannins.

Drinking this the same week it was delivered with my ATP shipment. Really fresh despite how hot 2019 ended
