Needed about 2 hours to really get going. The nose is packed with subtle red berries, blood orange, plums, stem spice, leather, musk and sweet dirt, if that exists...
Fantastic palate, medium+ bodied with great concentration and fine, dusty tannins towards the super long finish, driven by orange zest and stems.

La Paulee NY. Not very expressive on the nose, stems and shy black fruits appear after coaxing. Meaty, earthy and dense GC, typical CDR active limestone on full display on the chalky inflected finish, but not uber long. This wine is just too young. On the whole line up, I must say that I was expecting much more, the prices doubled in the last 24 months, but the question is, has the quality doubled ?

La Paulee 2023 - Grand Tasting (New York): Brief impressions at La Paulee. I forgot to write down my exact thoughts at the time as was leaving the tasting but do recall this was quite powerful and concentrated, if quite closed at the same time. Probably needs years.

2023 La Paulee Grand Tasting of 2020 Burgundy (Pier 60, New York): Medium ruby. Elegant weight, very discrete. Soil, ripe red fruit, outstanding acidity, and fine grained tannins. Deep, lush, complex, and long. Yawn, another great vintage of this-wish I could afford it!

Honestly, a score is pretty provisional here. This was rudely primary and mostly closed. Mostly red fruits and a pain complet note. Lots of solid structure and a slight smokey note. All the pieces seem in order.

A touch of reduction. Very luscious and powerful. Such an intense core of fruit. Some earth and loads of floral spice. Perfectly ripe tannins carry the finish on and on.

This came across as very black fruited, not as energetic as I experienced last time around.
A bit of coffee on the palate alongside orange. Very serious and somewhat flat fruit..

Off-Track Leroy BYO (Manhatta): Stunningly open, so perfumed, elegant, meaty, purple fruit, vanilla, lifted with substance. 94+
