Drank in a blind tasting next to Tignanello 2016. 13 out of 14 people preferred the Tignanello.
Maybe unfair to rate this wine so young, but in the current state the tasting group did not get any pleasure out of this wine, nor can I personally claim to predict a great future for this wine. However, my experience with Sassicaia in various stages of its life is very limited.
Based off of this experience, I would happily buy two Tignanellos instead of this.

High on acidity, lots of fruit, not ready in the next few years, but still good. Long lasting taste. Rated as is, not as the potential. Probably a 95-96 in the future.

Celebratory pairing. 1) Glenfiddich 23 Year Old Grand Cru 2) 2006 Dom Perignon Champagne 3) 2020 Tenuta San Guido Sassiccaia 4) 1969 Weingut Muller Privat Rheinriesling Spatlese. A selection picked for each person. This was more dense than my usual Bolgheri, Guado al Tasso. It was thick - almost like blood - with eucalyptus as the most identifiable taste. Raspberry was the next most identifiable taste.

Plum Market wine tasting. Another wine that I was looking forward to tasting in consideration of the 97 rating from Galloni/Vinous, Suckling, and also WS. However, this wine wasn’t close to ready. Fairly tannic and tart. I’ll refrain from rating it because it clearly needs time as expected. According to Suckling, try after 2027 which makes sense. 85% cab sauvignon and 15% cab franc.

Initially tasted in August at Enoteca San Guido but I reserved judgment until I could be more objective. Decanted for 4 hours. Beautiful aromatics with gravel, mineral, leather, dark cherries, and some oaky hints beneath it all. The tannins are still firm but the tangy acidity provides a great refreshment factor. Certainly on the more austere and brooding side of Bordeaux blends. This wine has so much going on and there’s much more to come with additional bottle age. This could use another 5 years (minimum) in the cellar but I think it will drink well for decades. Elegantly powerful.

Amazingly inviting nose, lifted, wafting with deep rich red fruits, apple skins, wild flowers, little oak, some smokiness. Palate is as the nose, sweet fruit dominated and balanced with some savory notes. drinking so nicely even as young. Delightful, complete and delicious!

(from memory) Deep purple, a little less expressive on the nose than would expect from the color, vanilla, coconut, and black spice on the first nose, followed by black currant, blackberry, licorice and warm wood, spicy and hot on the palate with loads of blue fruit, teethy tannins, and medium plus acidity, finished with the black and blue fruit buried in new oak, more heat, spice, and touches of earth
Note: such a historic estate but just not feeling this one, certainly a well made claret but in a more "international" style, had high hopes, feel let down, ultimately would not buy this again, even from a 50% off bin

Grabbed this on a whim to satisfy as 2.5 decades old nostalgia itch. Insane nose close to gage plums with darker notes and fougere. Palate is tight as expected with a bit more alcohol showing than I'd expect even on a closed wine. Decanted with vigor and will revisit.
It is a few hours and a lot of small glasses later. This really rounded out and it a lovely and unique wine - not at all of its grapes but not really Tuscany (in a good way.) Dropped some sappiness and layers of dank soil with fruits that got redder - almost Pom - in their lift. Long finish with interesting tempura paint elements that I think will get correct. Really delivered a lot of pleasure with the last glass.

Sassicaia 2020 shows beautiful refinement, finesse and class. Typical fragrance of lavender, blue fruits and violet notes, wafts of fresh tobacco leaf, mint and oriental spices. The palate is bright, fresh, layerd, medium-bodied, feminine in style, polished tannins and a finish that just won't quit. The balance is outstanding, all comes together nicely, a true craftsmanship. Drinking well today, so approachable and will drink wonderfully given just a few more years of patience. Just charming. Tasted at San Guido osteria, great experience.

Bolgheri 2020 Anteprima (67 Pall Mall, London): Lighter-bodied, fresh, graceful - dancing. Refreshing acidity. Very Tuscan in profile. Really VG. Over time, still wonderfully textured but more darkness behind, underpinning it. Standout of the evening.
Tasted at the Armit Wines launch of the 2020 vintage, alongside the 2021 Le Difese and the 2014 vintage of Sassicaia, chosen for its similarities to the 2020 release.
The 2020 is the typical blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet France, 45% aged in new oak. The new oak is immediately evident at this stage with smoke, vanilla, pencil-shavings and cigar-box notes to the fore. Cassis and dark berry fruit follows with a touch of bell pepper. The palate is fresh and elegant, more approachable at this age than the 2019, with blackberry and chocolate. Well structured without being over extracted, it probably won't be the longest lived vintage of Sassicaia (the contrast with 2014 is helpful here, as the 14 seems to be approaching full maturity now), but will drink well in the short to medium term.

My first bottle of Sassicaia ever! I know it's a baby, but it was a business dinner and couldn't turn down the opportunity.
Paired with a Greek dinner.
Decanted right away and drank over the course of two-and-a-half hours.
A little shut off at first, but continued to open up over the night. Started to evolve with more fruit, notes of ripe cherry and wet dirt.
This will only get better with time.
94 points for now, but that score could go up over the next decade.

Dark fruits and leather. High acidity-lingering acidity. I think more time in the bottle but still can’t stop commenting on the wine
