Annual NYE Dinner and Champagne (My House): November 2021 disgorgement. Haven't tasted this wine since I was at the domaine way back in 2022. I thought the wine at that time was more solar, reflective of the vintage. So I decided to pick up another and revisit, serving it last night for the holiday meal. There is a liquified green apple and jasmine flower that really frame the core of the wine, finishing with a lemon peel and ginger. Later when I let the chill fade off the wine, there is even more expressiveness, giving the finish a refreshing, slatey feel. And finally with more air, some mango comes into the wine. I do now see the wine as more complex then the bottle in 2022.

A warm vintage but still a fine tuned mineraldriven BdB, only 3000 bottles disgorged 11/2021. Not tasted before , his wines are more elegant and delicious these days, he got ** in Guide Vert 2024.

C+K's housewarming party (Chicago, IL): Disgorged January 2022. A huge whiff here. This wine was almost universally disliked today. The fruit was candied and clearly very sweet, but at the same time, the acidity didn't seem to integrate at all, leading to an unpleasant green sensation as well. Unbalanced and herbal, but overripe and candied at the same time, this was a pretty confounding wine. Hopefully this was a flawed bottle.

Tasting with Aurelien Laherte of Laherte Freres (At the winery in Chavot): Had to add to the database so this is an early look at the wine. Disgorged December 2021. 100% Chardonnay grown on chalk with a few grams of dosage. The vintage shows here, the sun really coming through it. The chalk helps add freshness to lift the more fruit-centric aspect of the wine. Lemon, yellow apple, grapefruit with a richer expression but enough spine to balance it out.

Green apple and mineral driven. Very clean. Extremely light color.

Creamy Chardonnay with some age, works with those cheeses.
