Generous blind by @pinotlui. Smoky, funk, dark berries, spices, and old leather. Weighty and grippy, but also not syrupy or hot. Guessed CA blend. Revealed as SQN.

Initial notes of smoke and charcoal past that you get dark raspberry, roasted herbs, red currents, spices, white pepper. Notes of dark cherry, smoke, leather, brambleberry, slight spicy finish on the palate. There is some heat on the very long finish.

2 hour decant. Haldolugr's TN sums it nicely. Very fresh and lively considering the level of extraction and the 15.8% ABV. Dark berry fruit, unobtrusive oak and tannins. Certainly age worthy but mighty good at this stage. Not my spouse's style but she quite enjoyed it.

Light in body which is different from many other SQNs. But the fruit is delicious. Raspberry, cherry notes in the mouth. Very easy finish. Quite delicous and a little unexpected (IMHO) in how open and light this wine was at this stage. Everyone really enjoyed it.

This was great. Strong kirsch. The comments about how big it is made me think this would be more Priorat style, but it comes off as a beautiful CDP. Nothing too big about this. I’ve had an older SQN Rattrapante and I much prefer this young Distenta. *chef’s kiss*

Park90 / Grand Cru SQN Masterclass: 77.9% Grenache, 15.8% alcohol. Thought the nose was promising, quite lifted and perfumed. Heard that SQN was going for gentler winemaking in recent vintages - could see the lighter extraction but guess they forgot to rein in the alcohol and oak. I really dislike sweetness in red wines and this was unbearably so.

Tasted at the Sine Qua Non Q.E.D. The Masterclass Experience, part of the Fruits of the Vine 2024 at The Singapore Edition organised by Grand Cru.
Pretty purple in colour. A flamboyant wine with rich cream and vanilla on the nose and palate. Wine resembles a well-groomed middle-aged gentleman in suit and tuxedo; very clean, well-mannered, nothing to pick on.
A very pleasant experience interacting with this one.

I know the stereotype of laying down SQNs for 10 years, but this bottle is already incredible. Decanted for 4 hours, this had an explosive floral and berry aroma. I have been fortunate to try some older SQN's, but I think this one is the tastiest one I've had yet. Intensely aromatic but very light - a lot less jammy than you would expect, and practically no residual heat despite clocking in at 15.8%.

Fantastic. Very sweet nose of raspberry, strawberry and cotton candy. Wine is rich, sweet, silky with a nice finish. Despite the richness it is still very light with no heaviness. Surprisingly approachable already.

Won't rate yet - as it evolved immensely from day one through day two! Intense, oak, fruit, tannin, charcoal and other flavors all present. I'll give the next one lots of air! Definitely a high 90s wine

No detailed notes, but no surprise here, massive in scale. Abundant fruit and tannin working together harmoniously. Palate was silky smooth. Last wine of a big night and this was fantastic.

Decanted 5 hours. Superb texture, freshness, and balance. Black raspberry, roasted cranberries, dried flowers, tar, forest floor, spices. Well integrated chalky tannins with a distinguished finish. This elixir is darn good now - and is built for longevity. 97+ over 2 days.

Damn, that is some yummy juice! Had to check-in to see what the fuss is about; it was my first SQN. Defintiely hard to rate as there is so much going on that is a little distracting. However, there is no denying the quality of fruit is there. For anyone who has experience drinking these, how long do you recommend laying them down? I'm guessing 10 years..
An absolutely outrageous wine! Huge intensity and packet with sweet raspberry fruit, vanilla, licorice, orange and wild herbs. The nose is packed with wild white flowers and licorice! What an amazing and pleasurable wine!! Simply, it is just stunning!

Found this while visiting my parents in Naples, so decided to get and open. Decanted 3 hours. Noise is dark with some tar and smoke. Taste of dark berries and a little licorice. It is full bodies and the finish is long.

Decanted for four hours. Sensuous and loaded with verve. On the nose there’s cardamom, spiced raspberries, li-hing, charred pork shoulder, lavender, sous bois and elderberry. This flows on and on, and the middle shows this addictive grip. Poised and poetic, with a full body and fine tannins, which remain layered. Showy, yet so much refinement. Ecstatic. The nose is explosive! All estate fruit. Drink 2026 - 2041.

Opened in the bottle for several hours but really could use a long decant. Stylistically consistent with the SQN Grenache the last few years with a more precise/serious style than these used to be. Still there’s ripeness but balanced by scorched/smoked earth, dried herbs, and mineral. These need several years in the bottle to fully come around.

Affirmation that SQN Grenache may very well be my favorite wine. Brown sugar is what I remember most.
