This was blinded on me again (also in July) by my brother. I immediately identified this as Zinfandel and settled on Amador County, 2021 vintage, high quality - $30 price point. Nice guess! This showed better than the bottle in July - not sure if was a better bottle, or the additional age, or maybe a palate difference. I think it says something that this was identified as Zin by multiple tasters and all thought it to be high quality before the reveal.

Fresh fruit forward focusing on red fruits. Cherry and strawberry Cola. Slight tart finish. Decanted 30 Minutes. One of the lower priced single vineyard Turleys in mid 30’. Would buy again. Good bony great

15.6% abv. Brought by my brother to a blind family Zinfandel tasting. This was typical Turley for me, in the over-ripe realm with a little roasted note, noticeable supporting oak, and high alcohol. Good for the style, but I found the alcohol spike stood out and was a little distracting. I would have figured this to be the highlight of the tasting, but nobody was really enthused with it.

I’m finding that the 2020 Turley Zins need a decant prior to serving. Very tight and monolithic straight out of the bottle, this offering was a very different wine after two hours in the decanter. Dark cocoa, lush blackberries, spice and hillside herbs. Drink now to 2026. Worth Seeking Out.

Very lovely zin bursting with fresh berry fruit. Not at all over the top high alcohol fruit bomb but a lively wine, a real pleasure to drink on a Friday night on its own. Excellent value in the Turley lineup.

On the nose- Dark cherries, dark blueberries, ripe raspberries, fresh plums, fresh blueberries, cassis, baking spice, wild herbs, leather, tobacco, boysenberry pie, wild flowers
On the palate- Dark cherries and dark blueberries, ripe raspberries and fresh plums, fresh blueberries and cassis, baking spice and wild herbs, leather and tobacco, boysenberry pie and wild flowers on the finish. This wine is big and rich but has nice balance and structure. This wine is drinking KILLER now but needs a few more years in the cellar or a long decant time. I see this aging another 7-10 years with no problem at all if not longer.

From a morning tasting at the Amador location (sparse note). warm, rich fig and cherry fruit. Filaments of mineral run through to a dark chocolate finish. Some spice and herb.

Beautiful wine when served at 60ish temp. Equally in the color, in the nose, in the taste, and in the after taste. Solid pronounced yet well balanced Turley spices and dark gamey fruits. All rise for the Judge. Four bottles to go.

Night-1, after a couple-hour glass decant; burgundy/maroon. Bramble, burning bush, manzanita dust, and Zin things on the bouquet; this is medium+ bodied and still showing fresh and young on the palate. It seems to be more herbal and herb driven (even with some green elements) than many of the other Turley Zins I recently tasted of this vintage. The alcohol is more than reasonably balanced with the herb and tangy, sometimes sour red fruits. Black currant and salty mineral veins sparkle on the slightly bitter and quite tannic finish. This should mellow in the short/medium term and probably improve. I would try to drink before the decade is out to get the best of it, but that's just a hunch. 90-91 pts.

I thought this would need more bottle time but no! Pleasant zin fruit on day 1 and 2. Drink inside next 5 years

Mellowing out with cellar time, but also becoming more balanced and expressive. Still a lot of fruit, but elements of earth becoming more pronounced.

On the lighter side of the Zin profile. Blue and red fruits, light tannins, enjoyable and easy to drink.

Decanted and got interrupted, so the decant lasted 4 hours. Herbal and fruity, even a touch sour. Well made, but perhaps not my cup of tea (or zin).

Solid zin with sweet notes. Fruits balanced with mouth watering acidy and tannins. Great solo and with Italian foods. Improved after 2hrs in decanter
