Apparently 50% Sangiovese and 50% Merlot. Solid wine for dining out. Some pricing arbitrage thinking through other wines by the glass versus a bottle of this. Definitely a price play; a strong value proposition. Lucente may have been my first Super Tuscan, over 25 years ago. My father was interested in the joint venture at that time. Several degrees of separation, starting with Mouton Rothschild, then Opus One, and finishing with Luce/Lucente (of course Robert Mondavi being the link). I later waded into Continuum too. The wine is simple and straightforward, but I was not disappointed. Dark berries. Good tannins. Well balanced. Long finish. Very drinkable. I need to track down a bottle of Luce.

Concentrated dark color but not quite vibrant ruby. Medium+ bodied, medium tannins. Cherry, blackberry, cedar, pencil, rooibos/puerh tea, a bit like Primitivo/Zinfandel, but said it's only of Merlot & Sangiovese.

Nose: Rich oak, herbs, dark fruit. Just a touch of cacao.
Palate: Bracing tannins with well balanced acidity. Waves of cacao and dark berries. Surprisingly fruity. Hints of woods spice, cigar box, vanilla, and just a touch of black currant.
Finish: Medium length. Wood and herbs. A faint touch of black currant and some balsamic.

A dark ruby colour, on the nose it is immediate how smooth the wine is, in the mouth the sensation continues. This is a mouth filling wine, with dominant notes of red fruit and silky smooth tannins.
There in though a strong presence of oak, that kind of covers some of the flavours.
Fantastic, for occasions

Pnp. A gifted bottle. Never had this before. Deep maroon red with no colour change apparent at the rim. Clearly Tuscan nose! Black cherry, blackberry, toasted oak, dusty earth, black olive and a touch of new leather. Quite a lovely nose, albeit very young. Sweet fruit entry, juicy acidity, abundant tannins, medium-full bodied and quite nicely balanced overall leading to a very dry finish. Flavours of ripe blackberries, black plum skins, toasty oak, a bit of ink, dusty minerals and good grip on the finish. Very well made and very good. Can be sipped but will be greatly enhanced with food. Easy 92 points

A lovely Tuscan blend of 50%/50%Sangiovese/Merlot. Deep garnet red color in the glass with aromas of blackberries, chassis, cherries and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, intense and complex flavor notes miring the wine’s aromas. Medium to full bodied mouthfeel with luscious and fully ripe fruit flavors. Level of acidity is pleasing to the palate with presence of tannins moderate. This is an innovative wine that is quite delightful.

Aromatic, raisined fruit and sweet, toasty oak nose. Big, flavourful palate; young and grippy with a rich, toasty finish. A respectful showing as the offspring of Luce. 4/5
