  • Explosive and engaging nose of pure cherry fruit laced with exotic spices, toasted herbs and camp fire. On the palate, the fruit is shockingly pure, fresh and crystalline. Lots of nuances and layers in a youthfully fresh and powerful package. Also at peak with a very long drinking window ahead.

  • Bottle with good fill level and no signs of seapage. The cork did fall into the bottle which was probably a good thing. I don’t believe I would have been able to extract it as a whole

Definitively showing some brickening but almost less than one would expect. Intensive Aroma after mushrooms and forest floor. Very smooth and almost silky albeit still having a tiny acidic vein going through it’s body. Tannins are obviously well integrated. Wonderful bottle which was shared with friend and accompanied by a well seasoned steak which was a perfect match.

  • The cork was not in a very good shape so i suspected the wine is gone. On the nose it's typical old wine w/ earthy, slight volatile note. First sip reveals good tannin and acid, and still a bit tight. Actually it shows best on the next day with dried fruit/truffle/balsamic note and a very integrated palate.

  • 1974 Dinner: Mushroomy, volatile nose and too much vinegar on the palate to really enjoy. There was still some wine there but this was the only one of the wines of the night that was too far gone, and also got worse with air.

  • Sadly dead, long gone. Brown colour, just flat raisiny aromas, and no palate to speak of. Cork was very soft so despite decent cellaring maybe flawed anyway.

  • Bricking garnet with orange highlights and watery rim.
Mushroomy and floral on the beautifully aged nose with cherry and red apple fruit. Stewed veggies, dill, bitter almond, baking spice, orange peel and graphite.
Medium bodied and dry palate showing wonderful acidic brightness and tartness of fruit. Liquorice, mushroomy earthiness, sous bois, minerality and slight chocolate. Refreshing mid-length finish.
Amazing brightness combines with a beautiful complexity of earthy nuances. Probably has a decades long drinking window delivering more or less similar matured experience. So, drink or still hold.

  • En meget flott vin! Fortsatt endel frukt igjen, bra struktur. Ikke så velstrukturert som f.eks. Riserva 75, men en bra flaske.

  • Bottle was gone. Treacle and blackcurrents. Not necessarily a bad taste per se, but not good for a wine.

The wine was very brown. Capsule broken and looked as if it had leaked a bit.

I had another Brunello of the same vintage a few weeks earler that was drinking well, so there is hope for these old wines.
