Good red fruit, but without the solid underlying backbone that better Zins have. Enough tannins to suggest more evolution of the plentiful fruit. A little disappointing, given the stellar reviews. Perhaps just in a dumb phase. I'll wait another six months before trying another bottle.

$24 Alexander Valley, Calif., 2019 Franklin Son Père Zinfandel. Mid-ruby, brick edges, viscous (14.8 alc.); red fruit, bramble, ripe grape nose; mid acids, mid+ tannins; good berry and bramble finish; a little hot. w/beef stew. 16 UC Davis scale, 90 other scales.

Tried another earlier than planned. Not much different. I sense that a year or two will improve it. Certainly bring it together better.
