I agree with the recent reviewer's freinds who were a little disappointed. I was expecting more, but perhaps the wine is past its best. The taste was pleasant but rather flat without too much fruit or taste. There was some fruit on the nose, but not too much. Technically well made, but not the excellent Pomerol I was expecting or paid for. I had a much better St Julien earlier in the week, and cheaper too.

I loved this bottle but everyone else seemed to be dissapointed in it. WE purchased it in Paris and were looking forward to drinking it with the family. It did not seem to have the depth of other pomerals we have enjoyed.

Ordered and served at a restaurant in Bordeaux. Perfectly mature, what you would want in a 10 year old Pomerol -- round, full, integrated -- with that characteristic Pomerol medley of chocolate, truffle, earth, smoke and black plum. This wine was shared with a longtime veteran of Bordeaux who runs a wine shop in Margaux, and he also remarked how settled and full this wine showed tonight. Earlier reports of "Fruit Bomb" or "oaky" did not describe the maturity and balance on display from this friendly and delicious wine. Integrated, balanced and drinking very well now.

Very nice wine and ready to drink indeed. Starting to show very nicely its secondery profiles. Very classy and suave with complex aromas of dark fruit, with hints of mushroom, coffee, as well as wet leaves in a very round texture. Beautiful.

1999 Bordeaux Tasting (Cafe Caprice, Austin TX): Really nice wine. Medium-bodied with an open-knit nose. Cedar, plum, tobacco, licorice and espresso. Ready to drink, no need to hold any further.

Firm wine with good oak and fruit. The tannin is very sticky and a bit harsh. In this stage the oak is dominating the wine. Compared to the 2000 this wine is less round and elegant.

During a tasting dinner. Still appearing closed, some dark fruit, reductive, over extracted. A weak showing.

The toasty oak was a little too obstrusive on this one for my liking. Drink now for immediate pleasure.
