Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Wow -- one of the best bottles of Moreau Chassagne I've had. This is outstanding white Burgundy. It is very Chassagne with its texture and richness, but also has plenty of the requisite acidity. Somewhat oily with that kind of lanolin-like note, this certainly shows some age. Nonetheless there are still some stone fruit flavours out for display.
It was a rather dubious anniversary for me, so I grabbed what I hoped would be a pretty good bottle. I have had a few of these, some great, a couple stinkers. The pale yellow was a welcomed sight, tipping its hand that this would be one of the good ones, perhaps the best of them all. A classic white Burgundy nose with lemon, vanilla, and just a hint of oak. Pure gold on the palate with seamless depth, wonderful flavors, and an enduring finish. Whoa. No wait, it's worth two: Whoa. I do not really consider myself a worrier. I no longer worry about politics, nor the stock market. I try not to worry about my receding hairline or my increasing waist size. I do worry about my kids and when my wife will finally wake up and leave my sorry white butt. So I guess I am more of a "selective worrier". Above all else, I worry that I will wait a day (or more) too long to drink a wine. So when I saw that CT users felt this wine should have been consumed in 2012, I started to stress out--I had two bottles left. Well, this goes to show that stress is a wasted exercise. While not perhaps a "classic" white Burgundy (the citrus is a bit too prominent), it is really crazy good. The creaminess still breaks through the acidity to let you know its heritage. Initially, this was far too cold, but as it warmed it exhibited an elegance that is rare in American Chardonnay--the degrees of subtlety seemed limitless. Outstanding. thedrunkencyclist.com

Retail $40. The comments and scores for this wine are all over the place on Cellar Tracker, ranging from 92 down to 75 (?!?). Now, I got this bottle from the PLCB and most of the comments seem to be from fellow Pennsylvanians, so there certainly might be some issues there (the PLCB is infamous for letting wine sit on a delivery truck for hours in 90 degree heat). Regardless, this might be the best Chardonnay that I have had all year. Clean and focused with a great nose and even better expression on the palate, this was fantastic. I am just giddy that I have another three bottles in the cellar. Outstanding 92-94 Points.
Not sure if the bottle was flawed but this was way too acidic for a white burgundy. No complexity whatsoever, just high acid. Sadly a great nose but disappointing flavor profile.
Very nice. The oak that J2K spoke of must be completely integrated at this point. Some lemon rind on the nose which persisted onto the palate. Very well balanced with a slight acidity spike on the finish. I imagine the acidity will also mellow some. Outstanding.

wow -- this got much better over the past few months. there used to be a slight shrill/underripe acidity element, but now it's totally balanced. rich fruit with tons of minerality. oak is totally integrated and this is fairly classic. not a blockbuster, but at $15 i'd buy another case easy.

A rather muted nose does not prepare you for the breadth of flavor, refreshing acidity and nice length in this white burgundy. Stone fruits -- tart apricot and peach -- a bit of pineapple, and a cut of lemongrass with a weighty creaminess add to the enjoyment of this food-friendly wine. Great with baked salmon.

Too much oak, not what I expected from this white burgundy. Lemon and peach fruit and a little thin
