Disappointing double magnum. Cork sunken in but not leaking. Still drinkable but clearly on its very last leg. Pale, slightly cloudy red turning mahogany. A touch of sweetness from the little fruit remaining, some acidity, tea notes. Tired. We only drank half of the bottle - a shame

RSJ 'IAN A's Greatest hits of the 1970s': Fragrant nose, dark fruits and tobacco. Weighty on the palate without being clumsy or austere; fine old Pauillac.

I have had this wine a few times and I was certainly over enthusiastic with my first note. That said, this is a sleeper wine that is perfectly mature, well integrated with great notes of mature red and black fruit, cedar, earth and a leather note. Great harmony and round texture. Medium depth and finish.
Auction Of Promises Tasting (At Home): Shot. Poor quality bottle - bottom shoulder fill - soaked cork came out in one piece to reveal a reddy brown stinky wine. DNPIM

Opened and drank over 4 hours. Wow. Really impressive. Somewhat quiet nose, but some red fruit with earth and herbs. Full and round on the palate with great red fruit, chocolate notes and a long sweet finish. I liked this more than others. What a nice surprise.

HDH auction tasting at Tru; 5/11/2012-5/12/2012 (Chicago, IL): From the Clarence Day cellar. Very dark in colour with only moderate bricking. Some rotten vegetation aromas, and if it weren't for a bit of bordelais cigar smell, one could be forgiven for thinking that this is Burgundy. Slightly more acidic than its older brother that was tasted alongside, and not has interesting as it seems all that has remained is the acidic streak.

The elder a wine, the more often you find quality variations from bottle to bottle. This happened to me today with this wine. My enthusiasm for the first bottle got a damper. The second was drinkable but without these nice impressions of the first. But I have some left...

Amazing how tasty this oldie is presenting itself. You find grip, acidity and nice fruit-components. Not to compare with a 1990 - but still... CHAPEAU !!

Shocked that this wine was not over the hill. Far from a perfect bottle, this was delicate, soft with a sweet core. Lovely old Bordeaux. Lacy, mature, resolved. A real treat. B+

Bottle acquired by my Brother-in-Law from a house clearance. Fill top shoulder bottom of neck. Cork broke, so decanted through muslin, and drunk immediately. Brownish red orange colour fading to a watery rim. Nose had some fruit aspects but mainly savoury. Soft and easily drinkable, some red fruit, no real tannin with a pleasant lick of acidity that maintains balance without dominating. Seamless mellow wine and enjoyable by all.

This was a bottle inherited from my father-in-law. To be honest, I expected it to be over. Opened and decanted 1 hour before drinking. Cork on its last legs. colour very brown. nose clean, but undistinguished. Very mature, rounded flavours with everything now blended together to the point of not being able to separate out individual flavours. Balance very even, still a little fruit. A curious edge to it that made me think of Burgundy (composty?). Drink up.

Mature but lively appearance; classic nose, mature, calm but lively, red fruit, gentle, cedar and gravel; elegant and stylish, well-rounded but firm, medium weight, ripe acidity, lovely balance and length. Classic in every respect.

Wonderfully matured nose, classic character of cedar and berries, nice depth and harmony, lively but calm, not very expressive but clean, fragrant and elegant; losing weight on the palate, well-structured and balanced, nice tannic grip, nice floral touch, feminine; good length, leaves the mouth dry and perfumed. A good classic Pauillac, will eventually dry out.

Classic claret, classic Saint-Julien, classic Haut-Batailley. Stylish and complete, civilised, sophisticated, harmonious. A beauty, drink now but with time in hand.

Wunderbarer Geruch typisch klassischer Bordeaux, im Mund reif, komplex, keine Alterserscheinung, für das Alter erstaunlich!
