Top shoulder/base neck. Cork saturated 1/2 way. This was unfortunately slightly corked but my take was past it’s peak but likely a pleasant, mature Tuscan if you get a properly stored bottle. No structure left so definitely drink now based on this bottle. B+?

Deep and dark yet also noticeably translucent cherry red color. Developed, dark-toned nose with complex aromas of juicy blackcurrants and ripe dark fruits, some tertiary leathery tones, a little bit of sweet pruney character, light mushroomy tones of truffles and a woody hint of cedar. The wine is medium-bodied and developed yet still fresh and lively on the palate with nuanced flavors of wizened black cherries, leathery tones, some crunchy cranberry-driven red fruit, a little bit of sweet pruney dark fruit, slightly bitter notes of sour cherries, a hint of wizened blackcurrants and a cedary touch of savory oak. The wine is still enjoyably structured with its moderately high acidity and still quite firm and rather grippy tannins. The finish is moderately grippy, dark-toned and savory with very persistent flavors of tobacco, somewhat wizened black cherries, a little bit of peppery spice, light leathery tones and a hint of meaty umami.
A beautifully evolved, balanced and structured vintage of Tignanello that is starting to hit its apogee. Most likely the wine is going to continue to develop for some years but I'd wager it will keep good for many more years - perhaps even decades. Very classically built, this wine feels more like old-school Tuscan than modern or excessively polished Super-Tuscan. There are some blackcurrant-driven Cab flavors for sure, but the overall style is nicely dry, structure-driven and savory, and all the oak tones have wonderfully integrated with the fruit. Although 1993 was a very irregular vintage in Tuscany, this is an outstanding wine and feels like it is one of the greatest vintages of Tignanello.

Red still wine, garnet hue with slight orange rim and medium intensity, medium legs with noteworthy sediment, heady aromas of anise, leather, mushrooms, and baking spices, medium acid, medium minus alcohol, medium body, silky tannins, tastes of anise and spices with hints of pomegranate and cranberry with a long finish. Perfectly paired with pepperdelle, roast duck and truffle.

Garnet with brick color rim. Gentle blue berries with hint of tar. Very smooth with blue berries flavour backed with earth, very Bordeaux style. Medium finish.

Medium rosewood color. Gentle but varied nose of pomegranate, anise and tar. The palate starts slightly tart at the front of the mouth, transitioning to smooth black fruit flavors, underpinned by a subtle flavor of rocky soil. This requires somewhat quiet, contemplative enjoyment. The attentive taster will find this every bit as elegant as a mature Bordeaux, though perhaps in a more understated style. Another example of the excellence that Tignanello achieves with age, this may be enjoyed today without hesitation.

Tuscany holiday spring 2014; 4/11/2014-4/18/2014 (Tuscany (San Gimignano)): This tasted fully mature. bricking is eating a centimetre or 2 through the wine. the nose is all leather and cherry and almost leaps out of the glass. on the palate more leather cherry and tobacco with a hint of flowers such as violets, still fresh and very much alive, it will probably hold now for a number of years, still a little tannin giving it a bit of grip at the end. if there's a nit to pick it is the finish that doesn't last as long as you would like, but its a sexy and delicious bottle of wine.

Quite beautiful and open strawberry nose of truffles, liquorice, chocolate and toffee as well as fresh herbs, menthol and smoke. Medium bodied and structured palate with juicy fruit. Currants, red cherries and slight bell pepper. Tighter aftertaste with good length. Good stuff. More oak than in some other vintages, but just adding to the complexity. Drinking nicely.

Chestnut dinner (Martin's House): Very metallic, red and blue berries, black tea, loads of tannin still left, iced peach black tea, roasted hazelnuts, rather light but still very pleasant. i'm quite impressed and really like it!

Nice nose with dusty cherry, oak and vanilla notes. Deceptive. Body was very flabby, no acid left to provide structure. Thick roasted meat and stewed veg on palate. Finish was thin, slightly dirty and bitter. Past is prime. Still tannic. Should have drank this 5 years ago.

Pre-BOD celebration (Imperial Treasure @ Great World City): Alcohol :: 12.5% Shoot! I thought this was a Bordeaux at first with the aromas of sweet plum, leather, earth, rose. Good ripe and sweet tannin that mislead me this is not a Sangiovese, need to try more aged Sangiovese based wine! I like this for the first pour: sweet mid palate, rounded with good fruits and decent length, though not necessary highly complex. 2nd pour, the wine started to fade as the acid became volatile and the finished has lost its tension. Drink up soon. Buy - No.

Another result of over decanting It's does have nice fruits on the nose, but the palate is struggling to hold itself together. The acid is also beginning to fade. Perhaps should not had decanted or maybe not so long nevertheless it's still the oldest tignanello I come across. Would like to try it before it's decanted.

On Dec. 10th and 11th. Blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Surprisingly good shape for a 17 years old supertuscan in a lesser vintage, starting his declining phase just now. Great structure and body, not overly complex but with depth and length. Should drink well also for the next two or three years, and possibly even more.

Salmon colour, slight brown tinges.. Some sediment, even with decanting. Nose of blackberry jam and vanilla. Taste of Raspberry and black pepper some citrus rind . Short finish. Not septic at all... Still a great wine

I think this bottle was past it's prime , upon decanting there was stewed tomatoes & roasted meats , w/ a little air the nose was unmistakably SEPTIC , but the palate was still an interesting combination of stewed something and roasted something else , with a long finish . Really hard to get past that nose though .

Almost a port-like nose in its intensity, with dark red fruits, cherries. Creamy on the palate - like milk chocolate as my wife put it - with leather, cherries, dust and tobacco. Drinking absolutely great, but is probably at its peak.
