Corryton Burge (Strand Cellars): "Served blind. Age on the nose; minty, meaty, leather, ripe red fruit, a little baked earth, herbaceous underpin. Juicy, ripe, red fruit, slight alcohol warmth, tannins near resolved but offer a drying and slightly woody textured. Not for me. Thought this might be a cab blend from South Australia produced in the late 80's/early 90's "

Closed at first, but soon reveals intense flavours of prune, cassis, and raspberry. Silky-smooth, but with mouth-puckering acidity and tannin. Hints of oxidation, and a note of balsamic vinegar, indicate this may be past its best, though still delicious.

It took a long time to open up in the decanter(3 hours), but once it did it just kept developing over the next 3 hours. Starting with great dark brambly fruit. The finish was the best watermelon flavor....it stayed in your mouth at least another 30 seconds after it was consumed. Who would have thought a 22 year old GSM would have this much flavor. Still thinking about this wine the next day.

Liquorice, balsamic notes, leafs, a forest in the fall. A very sweet first impression, tannin fully disolved. Very little fruit left. On the palate again there's a whole bunch of balsamic tones. Almost no acidic structure. Tobacco and some pepper. Too old? 16/20.

Definitely needed a decent decant to bring out the full flavours. Lots of liquorice on the palette with subtle green apple and black pepper. Fruit has died abit at the front unfortunatly with the majority of the flavour being in the mid and back palette. Aged well, but perhaps not the most fantastic vintage.

After two very poor recent showings this was not too bad. A very CdP profile - underbrush, dark fruit, tar and a lavender note. The fruit showed a little porty and I missed the freshness of the Rhone versions. This was better in its fatter, fruit forward youth.

Nice GSM blend... definitely evokes a little Chateauneuf minus the earth and game notes. Medium/dark ruby color, black and red cherry, plum, and just a hint of toasty oak on the nose. Just a touch jammy and hot for my taste, but a good finish.

Day 1 - Bricky color. Dirty, medicinal aromas. Light bodied and tart. Where's the fruit? Day 2 - Definitely improved, with more raspberry fruit, added weight and a smoother finish. I am going to give my remaining bottles a couple of years and hope for a miracle in the cellar.

This wine seems to have really fallen apart since the last time I had it several years ago. Super hot on the palate, some splinters, and some notes of broken glass on the back end. Not sure this is good for my throat...on to something else.

One of the best wines I tasted at the CDP. Fully mature, with nice fruit and complexity.

A leaker that showed porty and hot. Give it the benefit of the doubt but based on previous experience I am not sure if the cork was solely to blame.

Needs an hour to open. Drink soon...dont' see getting much better. Nice fruit, integrated with soft tannins. Good floral Grenace edges. Medium weight.
