we dronk this wine against the richebourg DRC 2006, this was the better wine because the drc has more finesse, but this wine changed so much over the evening, that I was really impressed , because it started as a dark colored wine, with heavy tannins , round , and earthy flavors, with a fat structure in the mouth, to young to drink, but after a while the red fruit broke through and the wine had this appealing sweetness in the mouth that your still want more and it made you curious , I'm looking foward to drink this wine again in 10 years, it will not have the finesse of the drc but I think it will be great and score better !

Strong floral, earthy and oaky nose. The hallmark "old dry mop" odor, which is present in most of the older Burgundy wines (especially the ones from Richebourg and La Tache) was very noticeable. Decanted from the bottle for an hour. Initial taste was smooth and elegant, with hint of dark berries and mineral. After taste lingered on for a good few minutes. This wine went very well with roasted turkey.

A hedonistically delicious baby. Packed with Asian spice, black tea and smoked herbs interspersed with sweet black cherry. While big and fruit driven, it’s fresh and refined. In an early and pleasurable drinking window.

In a Galaxy Far, Far Away - Richebourg ! (Vancouver, BC, Canada): Light ruby with huckleberry and dark toast on the nose. Smoky loganberries on the long structured palate , with a silky finish supercharged with a splash of nutmeg and galangal. This is well ready to breach and enjoy now-yet secondary flavours in another 10 years would gild this up a notch!

The 2006 Meo Camuzet is a blockbuster. Tasted blind - A powerful array of new oak spices and sandalwood toast. A ripe and dense bouquet of dark berries, black cherry and lifted spices. 100% destemmed style with lots of new oak spices. Dense and muscular, spicy Vosne characteristics. Richebourg / RSV? 2009? Personally I prefer to have more age on these wines that are rich new oak, 100% destemmed style to show more nuances as they are able to age phenomenally, arguable much better than whole cluster winemaking. (93/100)

Casual Burg Dinner with Friends (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Tasted single blind in flight, I feel slightly stupid incorrectly thinking this was the 2008 since I have had this wine twice in the past year. Great spice, powerful red cherry/berry and concentration. I found this more backward vs the other wine, and used vintage stereotypes to think the 2008 had to be more firm. Tonight the 2008 was better, but there might be greater long-term potential in this 2006 charmer.

Dinner at Auberge du Pot d'Etain (L'Isle sur Serein - France): Red and black berries throughout with a slightly restrained start, but gradually expanding over the next hour+. Very powerful by the finish with wonderful baking spice, with completely alluring aromas.

Friday after Thanksgiving (FAT) - Part 1 - Burgundy 2006 (Palm Beach Gardens FL): Small taste, brief note. Open approx an hour before tasted. Huge black berries throughout with baking spice and dark chocolate. Excellent density and length. Starts a bit ripe, but otherwise impeccable balance. Another of tonight's "top 10" wines. Already very super tasty.

Oops we committed infanticide. I thought there was a chance this would be strutting some youthful opulence, and while it certainly did that, it took hours in the glass to come together. Oak on the nose, but shows itself as a wine of high breed and massive depth. Hands off this one for a decade!

Very ripe and dense nose of dark fruit, spice and faint herbal notes. Big, forward and bold fruit on the palate. Almost modern. Very primary. Wonderful structure and this needs loads of time. Long finish.

This is very enjoyable with spices and an underlying power. Very nice black fruit and very long aftertaste. It is a bit young but absolutely lovely right now. I could easily have downed one more if I had the opportunity.

Uncorked DK does 2006 Burgundy - 18 wines including Vogue, Rousseau, Liger-Belair, Ponsot (Karlebo Kro): Dark red. A somewhat shy nose with sour dark berries and some tobacco together with a bit of spicy soy. Dark and grumbling it hints at complexity and has decent length, but is lacking somewhat in concentration and expressivity, which is clear compared to the other wines in this heat. Maybe closed, but seems uninspired. Disappointing. (U93,1)

(Mostly) Burgundy Dinners with Friends; 4/21/2022-4/22/2022 (Chicago, IL): Not quite as "wow" as previous bottles, this was still fun, big and powerful, while also clearly with restraint and wonderful balance. I think the wine on a long flight earlier in the day didn't help.

Musique & Vin Festival BYO Dinner with Musicians (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune): Small glass, brief note. Spiced and floral start with ripe red red berry and cherry galore. Similar flavors, but much more reserved in the middle, then with a very long and opulent finish. Beautiful now, perhaps with further upside.
