This was a delightful surprise. Pure, red fruited nose, almost like a grenache. Light-ish carbonation, probably less than the other bottles. A little tannin as well, which surprised me. According to the "wine education expert" this is 60% pinot noir and 40% zin from Lodi.
I honestly expected this to be a gimmick, but I found myself enjoying it a lot. The obvious comparison is the Australian Domaine Chandon's sparkling shiraz, but this was a bit more elegant. It was almost like a California lambrusco. This would be great at parties.

We drank this sparkling red with a raspberry sorbet, real fruit Raspberry and blackberry garnish in a waffle bowl shell with Ghirardelli raspberry filled dark chocolate square candy. It was a wonderful accompaniment with our dessert.

One of the worst wines I have ever had from a "major producer" in the class of Domaine Chandon. There is very little fruit here; rather, there is sweetness (and artificial tasting at that), along with a talcum aftertaste that coats my teeth with a nasty layer. I can't find anything redeeming about this wine. I drank 1/2 glass and poured the rest down the sink. 80 points is generous. If I were the winemaker, I'd be embarrassed to release this. Awful.

On the nose- Big ripe candied cherries, stawberries, red fruits, black berry compote, ripe plums, cola

Black berry compote, ripe plums, a hint of spice and fairly sweet. Drinks like carbonated full-bodied red wine. Interesting, in that it has a decent percentage of Zinfandel to compliment the majority Pinot Noir.

Not my favorite Chandon sparkling, but I do agree with WaitinginManassas, as my Millennial daughter loves this one. Perhaps that's the market Chandon is targeting? It does go well with turkey & our sausage&chestnut stuffing so it's always around over the Thanksgiving holidays.

Went very well with charcuterie. Bubbles cut through a lot of the fat. Just a bit on the fruity side but very easy to drink. Group went from suspicious to finishing the bottle in a short order.

Drinking very well. Brought for red wine lovers who don't normally like sparkling wine and they loved it! Big berry flavors, smooth finish, a proven winner year after year. Only available at the winery.

A and C disagree. A likes blackberry finish which lacks the typical sweetness found in a sparkling wine. C misses it, thinks it's too bitter. Agreed that it's tastes good on the palate. Definite blackberries.

This wine is raw and coarse. A lot of blackberry flavors. Bitter finish. Zinfnadel does not belong in a bubbly. I have as much good to say abuot this wine as I do about George W. Bush.

A beautiful looking red, but way sweeter than I expected. The second bottle will be with desert, not appetizers.

Went well with fresh charcuterie, cut through the oils and red wine flavor accented the smoked meat. A bit too fruity but a really good try!
