Thought this would be too old….boy was I wrong. Light straw color, doesn’t look its age. Tropical fruit on the palate with lengthy finish. Very fresh and satisfying. Perfectly balanced and fine structure suggests it has years ahead of it. So glad I opened it for July 4th celebration.

Tyrrell's Vat 1 Vertical: At a peak. Medium lemon colour. Wonderful balance - toasty, white fruits and cantaloupe, medium bodied with soft acidity woven through the wine like filigree. All elements are in harmony. Excellent, and one of the wines of the Vat 1 vertical. Screwcap.

rockmelon, mango, green pear, honey, nectar back end all business, structure, length, wonderful balance…. Excellent mid age hunter Sem, ready now, but should reward more cellar time

{screwcap, 12%} Mid yellow. Developing hunter semillon; straw, dry honey, woolly richness. Less about pretend-oak and more about rich waxy fruit. Still with medium acidity, a mass of freshness, light/medium weight, medium/long finish. Just singing perfectly. Drink now or keep another decade easily.

Medium lemon in the glass. Showing a moderate intensity of aromas - chamomile, green apple, pear, melon, pineapple and lychee. Some MLF and lees contact. Tightly knit on the palate with great intensity of flavors that are further highlighted by the crisp, refreshing acid. Medium (+) length. Approachable now, but will definitely develop further with this structure.

Wine-Ark tasting Tyrell's (wine ark alexandria): Slight toast, honey with apple, slight lemon curd, mineral and a pinch of herbs. Juicy, tangy, creamy mid palate, very slight honey and a little toast. Just beginning to show those tertiary characteristics and getting a bit of breadth to the mid palate. Yum.

Slightly amber in the glass. 10 years in bottle did it quite some good. Lots of juicy white peach, pear and a hint of citrus on the palate. As others have pointed out, there is a noticeable tinge of buttery oak, but still within a balanced palate. Long finish. Lost a bit of fruit on day 2, but still a delicious wine nonetheless.

As Claret gang below noted - a bit oaky and buttery, but satisfying. Bigger bodied than I expected. Went better with Gouda than with fried white fish. Kept up over a few days. Good stuff.

The wine is clear and bright with a medium lemon green colour.
The nose is clean and developing, showing medium(+) intensity aromas of citrus (lemon peel, lime juice), green fruit (green apple), herbaceous (fresh grass) and hints of bottle ageing (walnut).
The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium acidity. It has a medium alcohol and a full body with a rich mouthfeel. It has medium(+) intensity flavours of citrus (lemon peel, lime juice), green fruit (green apple), herbaceous (fresh grass) and bottle ageing (walnut). The finish is medium(+).
It is a very good quality wine. It has a persistent finish and concentrated flavours. It shows some complexity provided by bottle ageing, but not enough to consider it outstanding.
Can drink now, but it has some acidic structure and fruit concentration to be kept for 10+ years and develop more honeyed and nutty flavours.

Brilliant in color and concentration with notes of lemon, lime zest, white stone minerality, white flowers, and underripe green apple with a hint of underripe honeydew. Really opened up on the second day and the slightly oily-textured semillon character became more apparent while the wine became more opulent and expressive. Will be better in 3-6 years.

Floral, citrus nose, not all that powerful. Pleasing acidity on the palate with yellow, white, green fruits, citrus predominating. Fresh and satisfying - will be good/better in the next few years.

Appearance: Bright and clear, it has light lemon-green color, with legs. Nose: Clean, with medium intensity aromas showing citrus fruit of lemon and lime, floral notes of acacia, tropical fruit of mango, herbaceous notes of grass and lemongrass, kernel notes of cashew nut, mineral notes of lanolin and with some spicy notes, some maturity notes of kerosene. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry with high acidity, the wine has medium alcohol with medium (+) body, with medium intensity flavors of citrus fruit of lime and lemon, floral notes of acacia, maturity notes of honey, dairy notes of cream, herbaceous notes of grass. The wine has a medium (-) finish. Conclusion: Good quality Australia Semillon showing fair concentration on the nose, with surprising complexity despite the fairly young age. The wine is refreshing, showing good balance of acidity, with the body to highlight the different flavors which are of reasonable intensity. The finish is a bit too short however, nevertheless still a wine that is enjoyable and ready to drink now, but can further develop for another 1-2 years.

Opened this last night because I wanted to see how it was travelling as a recent purchase before laying the other couple I bought down. It was very closed on the nose, opening up only marginally with some air allowing a hint of grassiness and some faint kero, with a citrus tang, but hinting at more to come later. Mouthfeel was fairly full given the closed aroma, lemon was a predominant flavour for me and a little mineral filling out the palate. Excellent length already. I am going to look forward to cracking the next bottle in another 4 or 5 years to see how it is unfolding.

Australia Day Tasting 2014 (Lindley Hall, Victoria, London, UK): As already mentioned by others, this is still fairly closed and will probably need the best part of five years at least before it starts truly opening up. At the moment, you can only hint at the underlying creamy tropical fruit, but there's also a leafy, slight greenness on the palate that forms its nervy, acidic backbone. Rich, fatty apricot, peach, some cream, long biscuity finish. I'm sure this will only become more complex ****(*)

Very light airy nose. Maybe a hint of yeast. Very delicate, maybe too tightly wound at the moment it has nice poise and creamy, zippy lemon and lime fruit. Very primary.

On the nose; cashew nuts, lemon rind then some kero.
Great palate weight (creamy), a lot better texture than most Aussie Semillons that I've tried. Follows the same tune as the nose with nuts, lemon and lime then some kero like characters.

2012 Sydney Royal Wine Show - Exhibitor's Tasting (Olympic Park, Homebush): {screwcap} Youthful, grassy & herbal aromas. The palate is mostly dusty lemon fruits, quite juicy, light-bodied, with medium acid, and a soft, medium-length finish. Rather in-between as aging goes; this is nicely balanced but sleeping. A solid Vat 1 without really scaling the heights, but needs more time in any case.
