A gorgeous btl. Nose of soft earth, spice, black tea, delicate oak toast; so elegant. On the palate: balanced acidity and density, black tea, wild strawberry, spice, juicy fruit and soft black tea on the finish, which shows attenuated tannin. Absolutely stunning right now (off the list at Le Montrachet in Puligny so provenance is near perfect).

One hour decant sufficient but better still with more air time. Showing nicely; tightness of earlier years giving way to still precise but softening red fruit. Clean, mid-weight structure. Not big, but beautiful.

Very good pinot that was quite dense and full of darker berries, with a silky attack that unfolds into some tart black cherries, some beginning complexity and a little spice box, but mostly quite fresh and slightly grippy although the finish is not so long. I would wait a while still for it to soften further.

Late July Bday celebration at Maison Dakota. Aired in bottle about 30 mins before drinking. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of funky earth, wet damp soil, salt, leather, brown stems, dark red cherries. Developed. On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet peppery spices, licorice, stony minerality, salty minerality, funky earth, leathery meat, dark red cherries. Long finish. Good quality. Nice savoury developed palate, though it lacks vibrancy from the reduced acidity. Drink up and enjoy.

Slightly more mature and softer than my last experience. Raspberry, red cherry, light spice on the approachable nose. Good fruit and soil notes on the palate, but overall somewhat shallow. An appealing rusticity though

A classy, elegant wine. 40 minute decant. Clear red fruit with substance and a slightly tart, unresolved finish. Beginning of drinking window, but will improve with more time. Look for 92+ down the road.

Raspberry, subtle earthy notes and evolving nutmeg on the nose. Shows some heat at the back of nose. Shows very young on the palate with red fruits countered by firm acids, residual wood notes and rounded but noticeable tannins. A sharp finish wipes out the aforementioned elements for the time being. Will fare better with time. Consumed with rock shrimp and heirloom tomato linguini. 88-89

Mid- garnet. Penetrating bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry and black plum, a sprinkling of spice and a haunting perfume that flows through onto the palate. Tasting blind, I would be in Chambolle or Vosne and not in Gevrey at all! The wine exudes flesh and richness with a delightful silky feel on the palate. There is concentration and power yet the wine feels more on the ethereal (almost feminine) side for Gevrey. A charming wine with fresh berries, towards red cherry and strawberry rather than darker fruits. The finish is long building nicely to reveal more density than at first noted. Classic Taupenot-Merme.

Decanted for about 3.5 hours prior to serving. Massive, rich, thick Burg. Tons of ripe red and black fruit helped along by a dense core of minerality and just enough oak. This is still young and needs another decade but was so hedonistically decadent that I couldn't help but love it.

Deceptive wine, silky, beautifully balanced, calm wine. So it's easy to drink now and yet that is such a waste, I strongly expect this wine to gain with age. Over the next 10 years.
Sealed with cork. 13.5%ABV

Elegant and perfumed aromas of candied cherries and strawberries, Fuji apples, mints, rose petals, and dry earth in the nose; the palate, fruity and juicy, with red berries, white cherries, licorice, and some soft spices; long finish though the ending was a bit abrupt, with dark berries, soft spices, whipped cream, and some unresolved tannins; overall, 92-93 points; quite approachable and enjoyable.

A slightly muddy ruby to garnet. Nice nose - earthy cherry and mulberry fruit, a touch of sous-bois starting to take the primary edge off of it and add further complexity. Similar on the palate. Positive attack, decent middle and reasonable finish. ***1/2

Colour: ruby, medium intensity, clear Nose: medium intensity, developing, clean, biscuit, cedar, spice, savoury meat over slight red fruit Mouth: Medium acidity, medium tannin, medium plus body, medium flavour intensity, savoury and meaty on the mouth. The tannin is silky and this, with the spice, is carried on the long finish Not much fruit carries though on the mouth. Medium alcohol but beautifully balanced. Very nice indeed

K-dub Wine Club - Red Burgundy (Tim W's): Deep ruby right to the rim, even a touch darker than the Suchots. Dark fruit with a predominantly cherry pit aroma reinforced by baking spices. Nice acidity and balance but just a touch hollow through the middle. Summary: Very fine and true to it's heritage. Delicious!.

Colour is very deep for a Burgundy, no clearing at the rim. Very powerful nose of incense, soil and fresh fruit...seductive. Mouth entry showed initial harshness and earthy. Young, well rounded fruit and well structured. Long long finish. Excellent. It show off the delicateness and finesse of '06 vintage well. It still needs time but it is approachable at this point. Overall, balanced, good quality and well made.

Scott Paul and De Ponte: Very pretty and quite soft and pleasing aromas of flowers, real strawberries, and strawberry flavored sweet tarts. On the palate, light to medium bodied, floral, and some very pleasing candied flavors and spice. Soft integrated tannins on the finish, more sweet tarts that are very tasty, and very very spicy... more tastes and I get lychee fruit and red apples, but the spice is very pleasing.

Tasting at Scott Paul and Tyrus Evan (Carlton, OR): Moderate red-purple color. Reticent nose of earth, grass, straberries and spice. Moderately rich and quite ripe and complex on the palate with good tannin and acidity. Very long slightly tannic finish. Nice but, to my taste, not on par with the Premiers.

Nose is overwhelming and rich with confit cherry and raspberry, nice mineral and fresh background. In the mouth, the masculine, strongly built character of Gevrey is present, but the powerful tanins are round enough. The wine is opulent with confit cherries fragrance. Drinkable now, but should be cellared for a least 5 years for more enjoyment.

Classical Europe: Complex bouquet with some barnyard and forest fruits. Same for the taste. The wine is very accessible. Although there is enough backbone, I am not sure if this wine is for the real long term. It is a beauty now!

Excellent bottle. Smoothed our with nice fragrance and more resolved tannins, but still has firmness and nice tightness in the fruit and structure.
