Still a wonderful Pinot Noir from Elk Cove. It's changed a lot in the bottle over the years, but it still had punch. Much more mellow than what it was a few years ago. More mature but with plum, berry, spice and earth notes. Really delicious. Decant or aerate before drinking helped to bring the full flavor of the wine forward.

Murky and dull visually. May have been slightly oxidized - the fruit lacked freshness. Starting to get worried about Elk Cove as a consistent producer. They're rather hit or miss in my experience.

Have to say, this is one of the first Elk Cove wines I've tried that I'm not super enthusiastic about. Not much character to the nose. Perhaps a touch of licorice and spice on the palate to complement the ripe berries. Really not one of my EC favorites. I don't suspect it will get too much better with more time in bottle.

Here it is, the big bad ass 91 pt. wine. If anyone cares. Spice, dill, ok nose. Fatter but flatter mid palate. None-existant finish. Steve says lusher and softer but I would say dull. At $42 I believe it is over priced by about $10. Or maybe even $15.

Very nice wine. Rather rich, and bigger Pinot than I'd been expecting. Flavors of dark berry fruits and spices with a nice balance and earthiness tones. Was served well by decanting, and probably would do well by cellaring for a while. Only reason I personally didn't give it a higher score was for my preference for slightly more delicate Pinot, whereas others who enjoy a richer style Pinot may really enjoy this wine.

Wow. Rich yet delicate. Notes of licorice and black pepper. Bigger Pinot than past vintages. Drink now or cellar for a while - it will only get better. A Pinot for those who enjoy good Pinot. Limited availability - only 510 cases produced. $40-50/bottle.

soft fruit; cherry, smooth. the finish showed a little much heat for a pinot

Dark, bold, dry. Kicks ass. Blackberry and smoke and oak. Not like a typical Pinot at all.
