  • E Reynaud smaking: Etter 1995 Beerenauslese blir dette naturligvis en veldig lys vin.

Men også ung. Til tross for å være 16 år har den knapt noen merkbar modning, utover at den er helt åpen og drikker perfekt.

Hvit ferskenfrukt, blomster, petrichor.

  • Really excellent. Maybe early still. Very kapow with a strong honey hit right up front. Probably needs like 10 or more years…

  • Significantly richer and sweeter than I was expecting, but turns out it’s the Spatlese fuder 5 and not the Kab. Starting to show some complexity alongside the mid-palate padding, but still some considerable way to go. Promising. ****

  • This Domprobst Spätlese with the A.P. Number 5 flows with a very clear, young colour into the glass. No sign of a aged wine.
On the nose you get a mixed bag of aged aromas like petrol & ripe apricot simultaneously mango, pineapple and more fresh, exotic flavors. Along with it you have some lime, almonds and fresh herbs out of the garden.
Good balanced acidity on the palate, lots of fruit flavors, nice sweet-sour play and gigantic drinkability. Missing a bit the last complexity on the palate. Not sure if it will appear after some more aging.

  • 2007 German Rieslings at the Magnum Society (Wellington, New Zealand): Relatively dark, deep gold. Quite a neutral nose, with a little kerosene. Notes of white flowers (honeysuckle?), a little honey, citrus and nectarines. A very rich Riesling with a lovely, viscous texture. Very good fruit weight and concentration. Big structure, broad on the mid palate with a lovely acid balance and very long finish. Flavours of ripe tropical fruit, with some chalky minerality. This wine went beautifully with the food, which brought out the wine's sugars in a really attractive way. More complexity than I saw in the other wines. With this stuffing, I would cellar 5+ years. My (and the group's overall) WOTN, 93.

  • Awesome on day one, awesome on day seven. This seems to be good to go, but like any great Riesling, will last a long time. Another home run for Willi.

  • Yum, yum, yum. Throwing a ton of diesel on the nose. The palate is amazingly vibrant and mineral, totally slakes your thirst. This is ridiculously tasty and so balanced between sweet and savory with utterly delicate acidity. Wowza!

  • Very 07: riper nose than usual for this cuvee with peach, pear, golden apple. Soft peach and apple on the palate. Yummy and spicy. This is richer and less exciting than I expect from the cuvee - I have mixed feelings about the 07's.

  • Really quite ripe and sweet, but with enough brightness and acidity to keep things going. I don't remember my previous bottle very well but this still seems very young.

  • So beautiful, so much going on, still so young though. Ethereal and floral with pitch perfectly ripe fruit and a great slatey/salty undertone. Glad I have 10 more.

  • Alcohol :: 8%
Popped and poured. Quite monolithic as the nose was shy (some kerosene and lemon) and palate is tight, with lemony sweetness and mineral. 2nd day, wow! Completely different compared to yesterday, absolutely singing. The wine has shed some of the flesh, less tropical fruits and revealed even better complexity of mineral. The aromas was really complex and focus, with mild kerosene, grapefruits, lemon, nut oil, red dates, slate and crushed stone. The palate is as good as the nose, precise and vibrant. A little bit restraint but the tension is super, especially in such a ripe vintage which some other wines could be too fleshy and lack of tension. Complex mineral and ripe, refreshing acidity giving this a really soft, elegant mouth feel but with firm backbone to support. Long finished with soft mineral, lemon peel aftertaste.

  • Very pale yellow colour. Nose of sweet yellow fruits and honeysuckle. Lightly effervescent. Quite sweet; some minerality. Notes of licorice of the finish. Pleasant and approachable.

  • Very pale colour. Aromatic nose, with notes of peaches, flowers, and gummi bears. Hint of effervescence, and somewhat cloying sweetness. Light acidity on the finish. Thick texture and lacking in minerality. Pretty, but there's not much else there.

  • This really needs to settle down a bit even for short term drinking. Masses of sulphur at first, although that did partially blow off. At the moment apple and pear fruit leads, but you can sense the minerality waiting to come through. At the moment the Prums are making better drinking, but one can sense the quality of the wine that will come through here. Give it 8-10 years....

  • More 2007 Spatlesen (Vin Vino, Palo Alto): What a completely different wine than its stable mate! Like the #5, this also starts with apple but also features green papaya and deep brown spiciness, like creme brulee. Bigger and sweeter, but has a haunting complexity and a focused, drying finish that mitigates the sweetness. This is delicious.

  • Too sweet and flabby for my taste. Feels like more of an auslese; you could drink this with apple pie and I might like it a lot more in that context.
